sorry for posting so many new topics lately, but this car has been giving me nothing but a bunch of pooh.

i have my tranny out, and the motor is being supported with a motor hoist w/engine leveler. i just finished putting in the 8 lb flywheel and southbend cluch, and am now tryin to get the tranny back onto the motor, my problem is the input shaft wont line up. i have the clutch disk and flywheel perfectly aligned using the alignment tool. does anyone have any ideas on how to get it to match up? i spent a long time tonight w/2 friends tryin to get it, and no success. any suggestions techniques? shrug

thanks,

eric

Are you sure the friction disc is centered? I find it easier to place the engine's transmisson side a bit lower (sloping downward, then mount the transmission at the same angle. This way you have more room before the tranny mount hits the fender.

Hondakiller,

Get a couple of bolts the same thread pitch as the ones that hold the trans to the engine.

Cut the heads off of the bolts and cut a slot in the end of the bolt for a screwdriver.

Insert the bolts in the block at approximately the 2 o'clock and the 10 o'clock positions.

Now you have a "guide" to slide the trans onto.
This should align the trans with the back of the block, and the shaft with the clutch and pressure plate.

Put a couple of bolts in place, then screw out the "guides" and put in the regular bolts. Torque to spec. Hope this helps.

IF you are talking about the splines lining up then turn the crank sproket a lil bit while applying pressure to tranny it will slip right in. :D
