We just changed out the tranny of my fathers 97 sho. The old one was acting very funny. Slipping, sometimes..sometimes ok. Towards the end we had to leave in 2nd gear. Reverse was acting up also. We bought a used tranny and had it installed...the same freakin thing. Does this make sense? Is there something else that could be causing this. We changed the tranny and torque at the same time.

Did you check for any codes?

I had a similar issue with my 89 Jeep Cherokee. Was slipping and doing eratic shifts. Turned out it was the TPS. Replaced the TPS and problem solved.

Does the speedometer work?

Did you retain any of the electronics from old tranny on the replacement, like the MLP or TSS sensors?
