I am in the process of getting my gauges. I was just wondering what temperature range it needs to be.

You need something that reads to 300 deg (or more). Summit has loads of choices. This is the one I use... ATM-4347.

I think the tighter resolution of a 250F gage is better. If the fluid goes over that then you have cooling issues that must be addressed.

I want all my gauges to look as similar as posible. I was wondering if I could use the Ford Racing Water temp gauge as my tranny temp. It goes to 280. Would this work? I work for a Ford dealership that deals with Ford Racing so I get parts for pretty cheap. This is another reason I'm wanting the Ford Racing one plus my other 2 are Ford Racing.

If it is a single wire connection then it is usually a + voltage to ground through a variable, due to temperature, resistor sensor. The higher the temperature the difference the resistance. Usually the connection is the same with the same supply voltage but the sender and gage are calibrated together if the range is drastically different.
