Here are the Tranmission codes i got today from the Ford dealership i work for. As I stated earlier since I installed the X-chip my OD light has not stopped flashing. The ELF code is the same as the person's i bought this from. My car is shifting, and running normal but i still thinks something is not right. My ELF code: ELF 2 98 SHO

Po603- (PCM)
p1700 something Trans fail
p1705 Trans not indicating PCM in self test
p1718 TET- sensor in high range
p1760 refer to show manual
p1117 ECT sensor intermitt

I couldn't read all the second line because this tech thinks he's a doctor and just scribbled stuff down. The tech thinks it has something to do with the X-chip? I don't think it is. I flashed the system 2 days ago back to stock and the OD light still blinks. So if anybody knows what those codes are, I could sure use the input.

Also I have a new Edelbrock NOS system for sale. The person I bought it from on e-bay lied when he sold it to me. This kit contains, a 10lb bottle with all the Jets, lines, hookups ect. It is a wet system! I paid 300.00 but i will let it go for 250.00 If ya'll know anybody out there that's looking for a nice system cheap, I have it.

I would take the X-chip out and clear the codes. Then run the car for a few days and see what happens it is more then likly the chip but you will know when you pull it out.

P1700 is the engine side saying it sees a transmission code.

P1705 I do not quite understand, I am going to search on AllData

p1718 TET ( sounds like TFT, which is transmission fluid temp ) out of range.

P1760 SHOW manual. ( I will check SHOP manual. )

I will get back to this post.

The only one it gave me information on is P1705 ( Diagnostic test not run in park )

I think you have some issues with the chip or the computer. Did you have any issues before the install? What year am I working on here.

Mike...thanks for the quick posts...today my car was running like crap on the way home from work...I had my 98 running on the 89 octane setting. I flashed the computer back to stock. Then i disconnected the battery for about a 1/2 hr..Since i've done that my OD light has not been flashing on & off? My trans fluids are fine, i just checked them. Good color, no burning smell. No I didn't have any issues before the install. I love the chip, but i'm not going to run it if the PCM isn't picking it up correctly.

I would talk to Doug. He seems like a good guy. Maybe something just went wrong with your chip. I assume that the "X" is part of the Excaliber group buy from a little while back...

Good luck. I will be in Pittsburgh in two weeks. I used to live in Ben Avon Heights.

I'm confused... do you have a chip, or an Xcalibrator? They are two different things. A chip is piggybacked on the computer and stays there. The Xcalibrator flashes the computer through the OBD-II port under the steering column, and then it gets put back on the shelf or in the glove box until you want to change the programming again. At least that's the way it was explained to me. :nut:

I'm betting you have a chip. I had the same problems w/ my chip and the source was a bad connection. These cars are very sensitive to bad connections on the PCM. It took me about a dozen tries to get everything right. I ended up sanding down to bare copper, building back up w/ silver-bearing electrical solder, then evening up the bead heights and polishing w/ 1000 grit sandpaper to a mirror finish. I haven't had any problems since.
