I've been debating on trading the SHO cause I want to go in a different direction. Finally found the car I wanted in the color I wanted. Went to the dealer to work it out, came to an agreement. Long story short, I pulled from my 401k cause I'm upside down in the SHO. It was goin to take about 3days to get the money, it sold! Ugh! Now I got the money and no car. Now I'm on a mission. Stay tuned........

I'm afraid to say. My fellow SHO brothers might think I'm nuts. I think I'm goin through a "getting ready to turn 30 crisis". But I got my eyes on a 2008 Jaguar XKR convertible.

I don't think you're crazy, I think you love cars like me. I was recently at a Chrysler dealership checking out the new 300C/Charger RTs. Nice cars but with that old MB 5 speed trans pushing that Hemi there is not a chance in **** I'd buy one (just sold my 05 300C). But when they drop that new 8 speed in a few months.......who knows. Also on my potential list: the 2011 Infiniti G37 convertible, the 2012 Jeep SRT-8, the 2009 BMW 550i, the 2012 Mustang GT, the 2012 Camaro SS convertible and the list goes on. So don't feel bad, if you can afford it just give in to the addiction..

I'm giving in! 1 thing I've had to realize though, used car financing ain't as great as new car financing. No incentives, no a-plan, no 0% rates, 100% financing, no nothing. So I'm gona be patient cause I want a certain 1 in triple blk. If I'm gona pay this kinda money for a 3-4 year old car, I'm gettin what I want.

I feel the need too Greg....I change cars as often as I change socks sometimes......so don't feel bad.:woo-hoo:

Good luck with your shopping and you're wise to be patient.

Sorry to see you go as a fellow SHO owner but I'm sure you'll check in with news of whatever you end up with.

Cheers,

That's Colin. You and I trade alike. Lol. I trade atleast every 2years or sooner. But this is a record for me. 6months? I'm paying dearly for it. But when I want something, it really doesn't matter. This will be it for a while, I think

You're right on the financing. We were gonna go for a sweet 1 year old Boxster more than fully loaded but the financing even on a CPO car killed the deal. Ended up with a new BMW Z4 fully loaded for $200 a month LESS. Now we have a 2009 Vette purchased with 0% financing for an affordable monthly. Sucks not to get the car you wanted but I'm sure another will appear shortly. Good Luck!

What's with the used car financing? I've never had a used car so the rates and terms are shocking. I wish I could afford 1 brand new for the rate but they run 100k plus. Way way outa my range. It took me 3 days to get the deal I had, now I got a start over. The haggling, getting a decent amount for my car etc etc. It's 10x easier to say I'm a ford employee and get a-plan and go on about my business.

Everything happens for a reason... Maybe for the Jag it was to save you a lot of expensive repairs to come... They are not that reliable and they cost a bunch to repair... I hope you find what you want, but at the same time, analyze beyond the deal... If you would have gotten a deal for that Jag, I am sure that after 2 years, the repairs would have killed the deal... so everything happens for a reason...

Steve's right about repairs, I was going to get a Saab back in the middle 80's and my friend who was a dealer showed me the normal maint. fees. 15k Service was $400.00 and the normal 30K service was $600.00...and that's if nothing needed replaced that was out of warranty. And it was in 80's dollars. But it worked out for the best, I ended up with 3 different RX-7's...none of which ever required any kind of problem servicing. But good luck Greg, but you really should see what you can expect in Jaguar maint. costs before purchasing.

I wouldn't get anything without a warranty. Ever! I like when it's there problem. Lol. On another note, you can schedule maintenance and they will come pick it up, leave u a free rental and bring your car back. #justsaying

Nice car but I wouldn't buy it. A friend of mine worked for Jag until a couple years ago and he wouldn't even buy one. He said most are not that reliable and the repairs are extremely expensive.

Was that Jag a lot more than the SHO? You said you were upside down on your Taurus, just curious if buying it would put you in a worse position.

It was 47k. My SHO was 47k also but I only financed 40k. But that was at a 4% rate. I was 5k upside down. So by the time I added a down payment on that I was just above 700 a month. Which is about 50 more than I pay now. I'm 1 of those people that understands u gota pay to play. I've never heard of this quality issues. Than again I never looked. May do a lil research into this. Still a firm believer that if it's under warranty, not my issue.

Not too bad of a deal, but still would ask what rental you would get because my feeling is that you will end up driving the rental very often as the Jags are/were really really really not reliable... That's their price for beauty I guess... G/L! with the car... and the ****! lol!

TaurusBuilder, you have a winter car, correct? I think you'll find that an XKR convertible is not well suited to Illinois winters.... Even with dedicated snow tires it won't get around as well as the SHO.

Seems like the manufacturers put lower financing rates on new vehicles to move them. Since the used or CPO vehicles are not new and the purchase rates are lower, the finance rate can be higher, often making the used car more expensive because of the higher rates.
