I jsut did a search on this, and several people claim that if the TPS goes bad that the CE light should come on to indicate "limp-it-home" mode, which I get when I disconnect my MAF. But I jsut disconnected the TPS, drove around, and realized taht having it connected and disconnected yeilds the same bad results, so obviously it's bad, and probably not sending any signal. My question though, is should teh CE light come on? Maybe I have a shorted wire int eh connector?

no codes came up for it

Mine doesnt even want to start without the tps connected much less run?, it could be an ATX thing though. When/why I replaced mine I had a tps signal low code stored, but no driveability problems as far as I could tell. Does your CE engine light illuminate at all, and what driveability issues are leading you to the tps?

I had the tranny rebuilt in june, and i know what to look for (at least NOW i do, lol) to see if it's bad. And so far it's doing fine. The trouble i'm having is that the engine ransomly shakes and jerks violently, for a split second to half a minute. THis causes a rather nasty hesitation, that usually lasts untill the secondaries open, and even then, it often only has about half power. After I found out how much a TPS cost yesterday, i figured it wouldn't hurt at all just to get one anyway. I went to uatozone, got the closest seriel number i could find, and slapped it on there. Sure enough, teh car is WAY mroe responsive, and has a LOT more power nwo that it's not guessing where the throttle is. But the shaking and hesitation are still there.

In past tests, i've noticed that disconnecting the MAF makes things somewhat better, but the CE light is on all teh time and the car often dies. My CE light only comes on when i goof up on a repair, it's never something I don't knwo about, which is what's so agrivating about this. I get no CE light EVER.
