I come bearing sad news but I’m looking for hope. My grandfather bought a 91 + in white that even has the spoiler when they first came out. He drove it for 60,000 miles and then put it in storage for for years until it was time for me to start driving. I drove it for 2 years and loved it like it was my own child. I replaced the AC system to work with the new Freon (wasn’t cheap) and ended up having to replace the clutch after I had a little too much fun with it. A week after replacing the clutch I was in a wreck and ended up totaling it . Some girl pulled out in front of me at a light and that was the end of that. Now I’m currently looking to restore everything back to the way it was because the car is very sentimental to me. I will be providing updates on my journey and any help is greatly appreciated.

Looking already. Biggest issue is that the frame is bent, hopefully not too far to be fixed though. I’m going to be putting it on a lift Monday to properly ***** the damage

From one White 91+ owner to another, very sorry to hear about what happened. The car looked very clean. That hit looks like it really did a number on the unibody. Anything is repairable with enough time and money but I really think if you are dead set on repairing that exact car you will need another one to cut up. Replacement body sections for these cars are long gone. Get a clean rust free parts car and then find a really good collision center near by. Another option would be to get another car and transfer everything that is still good from yours to the other one. That would be the cheapest way to go and keep your car alive in spirit. Look forward to seeing your progress.

Post back after you get a good look at the undercarriage. Price it out and see where you are. If it was just a SHO I'd say get another one that isn't compromised, but I get it if the sentimentality overrrules that.

Here's a 91, if its been a west coast car, then it should be minimal rust. Looks like it has 164K so the price should be much lower than what is listed. In that condition, not more than 1K

Hope you were not injured. Looks like the SHO took a good hit but did it's best to protect you. The passenger compartment appears to be intact. I have to guess that the airbag deployed. You haven't mentioned that you had anybody with you but I know they would not have had the advantage of an airbag since I also have a '91 SHO and recognize that it only had a driver's airbag.
I can only imagine how you must feel, given the history of the car. I've owned my SHO since new and would feel terrible if something like that were to happen (and your SHO covers a couple of family generations). It certainly looks like it's worth trying to get it back on the road. It was a beautiful car. Best of luck to you.

My airbag actually didn’t deploy because of a faulty ground I tried to fix just weeks prior, luckily I was relatively uninjured with only some neck pain that was fixed with a trip to the chiropractor. Also there was nobody in my passenger seat luckily.

I can appreciate this story so much, my first SHO was totaled after I flipped it 3 times... I say rip that thing down and start rebuilding piece by piece... if you have any trouble finding things just post and I for one will try to help you find everything you need...anything can be fixed if you have the heart to do so! .....following

It was totalled, but does it now have a "Salvage" title. That may affect your decision.

Get the car in your possession, otherwise the storage charges will **** you.

I would try to fix the one you have, but you will have trouble sourcing a new rad support. There are stories that later Taurus supports are usable.

You will have to do most of the work yourself.

A competent frame shop will be able to straighten any problems with frame rails, but it will be expensive and you have to choose a good shop.

You will need an entire front clip from a Taurus or Sable if you don't want to get an entire parts car.

I’ve actually had the car out of storage since last August and the title was never actually changed due to the incompetence of the salvage lot and insurance company. Somehow my car still had a clean title

If you never file the claim then it will continue to have a clean title.... if you take the payoff from insurance then they will most likely tag the title as salvage from that point on... fyi
