Wowsa, if that is running stock boost and just with a tune, that is killer.
I looked up road test summary results, and there are no V6's at any price tested by R & T that beat this time in the 1/4.

The only faster 6 banger is the 911 flat 6, at close to $100k.

Im pretty sure that the GNX is still a faster car with equivalent tweaking done to both. Pretty impressive for the SHO though, laying down those numbers with all that weight.

This thread was cool until someone brought a 370Z into it. :rainshit:

Although, I love the 370Z, it's just a completely different car, and in a whole different class.

why not? its the best comparison you can find actually.... who cares about S4's and other 4 door tirds

IMHO, the whole thing with the SHO was having a sleeper car with 4 doors that would blow away 2 door cars.......

what are you gonna do of you had a new SHO there, and someone pulls up with a 370z next to you, revving their engine laughing at you...... are you gonna say nah thats ok, your cars in a different class and only has 2 doors..... or are you going to nail the throttle and beat the **** out of him? I know what I would do

I'd much rather see comparisons of the SHO vs other 2 door sports cars in 1/4 mile times.........

to me the biggest competitor's of the v6 SHO was the mustangs, and by your assumptions, a 4 door v6 car shouldn't be put up against a 2 door v8 car.... but thats the most fun I had with my clothes on in a SHO...... I love going and beating cars you don't think it shouldn't be able to beat......... no sense in racing that 80's 4 banger corolla with about 85hp......

Dude compare apples to apples first! Get that out of the way, then compare Apples to oranges.

I tried comparing the S4 (3.0T) to the SHO a while back and got ripped on because apparently the two cars aren't competitors. (both cost 40k, are V6's w/ boost and awd, didnt think you could get any close than that).

I don't really see what's wrong with comparing a 2 door and a 4 door in a straight line race, what difference does the rear set of doors make in a quarter mile? I don't really want to keep beating a dead horse and getting off topic but, it was just a simple comparison of motors, VQ V6 vs Ecoboost, and the 370Z is the fastest/most powerful VQ V6 and the SHO is the most powerful ecoboost. I don't see anyone talking about skidpad G's or braking distances - we're just talking about quarter mile times.

Why not compare a Chevy Celebrity with a Lambo?

It's pretty much how different a 2010 SHO and a Z are. The SHO is refined luxury for a great price. The Z is a 2 door sports car.

Please put the crack pipe down....

If the markets weren't entirely different then why would Ford sell both a Mustang and the SHO? Performance wise they aren't all that different (in a straight line at least). I agree with the others - keep it apples to apples first, see if it can rule it's market segment before you start going looking for other market segments to either beat up, or dethrone the segment victor.

If the celebrity in question could run the 1/4 mile in a similar time, they would be comparable. We are talking about 1/4 mile times here, nothing else.
