well just came back from a little road trip. The long weekend made traffic a little busy, but i still found the time do put the SHO to the mat. Anyways awhile back i was able to get the SHO to between 220km and 230km and then on my little trip i couldn't even get it too hit 200km. it would go great till about 180km and then i guess the overdrive would kick in idunno and slowly go just above 190km. I know for sure it would hit over 200km a lot easier then that, I'm baffled on why ?

I'm not sure on how that converts to MPH, but OD is a terrible gear for acceleration.
If you have an OD off button on the shifter, press it to lock out 4th gear. I believe top speed in 3rd is 137mph (or so I've heard wink )

If you start accellerating after 90 mph, then you'll never make it past 120 because of the converter lockup. Not sure if downshifting into 3rd (by OD off button) would work. I think I tried that once and it didn't help accellerating any.

Either that, or your IMRC may have failed. Not getting enough air through the secondaries.

Having your IMRC fail is rather easy to diagnose. First off, it will trigger the SES. Secondly, Once you past 3XXX rpm's, you won't hear the secondaries opening. Finally, at that same rpm, you won't feel the increase of power. It make you feel as if your driving a normal Taurus.

Actually it even easier than drivng it down the road. While trying to pinpoint a miss-fire I noticed by reving the motor to the 4k limiter and watching the IMRC it will open and close briefly. Now this was dicovered on 1998 SHO it should be standard through out them all. Hope this helps

ive hit 140/141 in drive on level ground and then the limiter kicks in,then i switch to overdrive and i get 144/145 and didnt hit the limiter, but im sure its right around there...my limiter is def not 137 though in 3rd gear, which is what drive stays in, right?......by the way, any of you know whats the fastest anybody got a gen 3 to go????

190km/h is about 119 - 120mph, 200km/h is about 130mph. 230km/h is 144mph

kph x .628 = mph

i don't know if weight would have anything to do with it, but did you take all your stuff out first?

You would not go faster since these car are limited to around 140, but you get there quicker :)
