So over the past couple days I have noticed my 10k mile Southbend stage 2 clutch and stock TOB is rattling pretty loud, enough for me to notice it. I have never noticed untill last week. Now I know this is a common problem on these cars but is that a warning sign that its going to go here soon? How long do you think this clutch/tob has left? When I did my motor swap the pressure plate fingers looked great! and the disc still looked new. Any thoughts?

I know thw stock TOB can cause excessive wear on the fingers of your pressure plate. That is why it is always recommended that you use Josh's ceramic TOB. It is pretty common for the TOB to make some noise, but if it is increasing it could be a sign that you may want to atleast get in there to replace the tob and take a look at the clutch.

Ive heard shos tob chatter for years without failing and I had one that started to chatter , replaced the clutch a few weeks later and the fingers were nearly trashed . I would check the fork bushings . Grab the top of the clutch fork and try and wiggle it around , see how loose it is .

Yes I got the shosource ones and I had alot of trouble installing them. They were too tight of a fit. Once installed it was so tight that I had to put a big spring on the clutch cable just to disengage the clutch. After 100 miles it broke in.

There is no slack in it if that is what you mean. And I do believe that the clutch is disengaging fully.

Almost every MTX equipped SHO has TOB rattle. It's pretty normal.

Yea I had problems with the Sho Source ones too. Very tight fit and bound up the shift fork. Found some new old stock(OEM) bushings and never had a problem.

The shosource ones work and Wear great. If they only installed easier they would be perfect. Buy after they are broke in they were fine. My old bushing was toast! Anyway thanks for the responses. I knew it was pretty typical of a Sho, did not know how long people drove on one rattling though.
