Anyone done it? Part number for block heater assembly? I'm gonna be replaceing the pan seal (500 miles per quart) and the rod bearings very soon and thought it would be a good time to do so. Thanks for the info.

Those "heat the oil" type of heaters are not particularly effective unless you like to keep a nice warm oil pan.NotSoSlowSHO:
i have never heard of a factory installed heater in an SHO (or any taurus). I do know that they have universal engine block heater kits... but am unaware of exactly what it includes.
My f-150 has a factory installed engine block heater... the heater resides INSIDE the oil pan. Kinda cool I guess if you live in sub-zero temps. just pop the hood and plug-er-in thumb

Wow - I've never heard of any vehicle that does not have a block heater installed from the factory. Guess it makes a difference when it commonly gets to -30 or -40 here and tops out at a little over 30. Check with your Ford parts desk for the part.NotSoSlowSHO:

I think it's only a standard option on cars destined for sale in Canada. If you ever travel to any of the warmer climate states, leave the block heater cord hanging out from under the hood and watch everyone scratch their head wondering what the heck it's for. They've never seen one...lol!svtman:
