Sorry for the probable misthreaded post.
So there seems to be new models of tire that came out in last two years and i am having a hard time figuring them out. I want to spend less than $170 a tire and would like at a minimum 40000 miles as that is about what i drive a year. Ya, i know you gasp when seeing how much i drive but i am gonna get my monies worth (kinda like i consider all my high score at golf course just getting my moneys worth).

I want all season. Anyone really happy, really sad, or so so about their recent tire purchases???

I bought Nitto Motivos about a year ago. Full out the door price with lifetime alignment was a little higher than your goal, I think I paid 850 total after tax, but they were good quiet tires. Handled great in the snow. I put about 22K on them before I sold the car, I have no doubt based on how much tread was left that they would have lasted past 50K miles.

Look into the General AS-05. I have Continental DWS06 and very happy with them, but they are a touch out of your budget. Discount tire will sometimes run an eBay special where you get $100 off for spending $400, so it costed me $650 all said and done. Also look into 255/45/20 as they are usually a touch cheaper than 245/45/20.

My $.02 - I don't run all seasons. I run either sport tires, or winter tires. That being said, here is my current lineup:

OEM: Goodyear F1 ... they stick. And handle. Period. Maybe you can find better performance tires, maybe not. But damn, they stick. Not to be used in snow. On ice, they do pretty well, but any flaky snow, fuhgetaboutit.

Winter tires: Goodyear Ultragrip 3's. Cop car tires for an 18" rim. Deep water, ice, snow, whatever, great tires.

A decent all-season I haven't dealt with in a while. I put Goodyear Assurance tires on my wife's Cougar and they are really good in all conditions.

YMMV. Plenty of other choices, and these guys will tell you all about them ;)

Also found a 70 dollar rebate on 4 generals until 4-15-18, form on general site. The same rebate is good for the gmax-05, which I would not hesitate to run (or the Cooper Zeon RS3-A, which were great)

So I went ahead and got the NEW UHP General Gmax RS Summer tires , says made in Germany on the tire. Stock 245-45-20 size. Transformed my car. So smooth, eats bumps, mpg increased, AWESOME traction -slingshot rocket's in sport mode, 2000 rpm launch 3 ft- of spin then slingshots forward, unreal fun....turns significantly better also. Tires only weigh 26.8 lbs, the UHP all seasons I had on car weighed 31.4 lbs. Road like a bag of rocks compared to the RS. I had no real problems with previous tires, now I see what I was missing. Great wet too, can floor car in rain. Not a reccomendation to do so....I highly recommend these tires for the SHO. Price was 138 ea SHIPPED
