Ok, I decided to hold onto my parts SHO & snag some more goodies...I'm in the process of yanking the heads & could use some advice on the best way to get them off. The front head is loose, I've removed the exhaust manifold bolts but I can't get the manifold off the studs. Will I have to remove the manifolds from the y-pipe & just take them out with the heads? I was planning to do that on the rear head but I was hoping to avoid it on the front.

Any tips are appreciated!

While it is possible to remove the front manifold off the head & take just the head off, we found it's easier to remove the manifold with the head, front & rear.

Good luck Chris.

Many thanks kind gentlemen! This will be my first project of the new year...I'm on my way out the door to a new years party, so hopefully I won't be too hung over to operate a torch tomorrow

I read this as the Y pipe is still attached to the manifold?? Cannot do it that way, must detach from the Y pipe before it will slide off the head studs.
