So, i'm about 55k out from the 2nd 60k maintenance job on my SHO. Yesterday, I replaced both my front and rear mounts, they really needed it. During the job i thought, Hey i wanna see if my plug wells are dry. (I expected them to be, the SHO has been running great) Well, what do you know, FULL of oil...you couldnt even see the top of one of the plugs! Talk about depressing! I just thought I'd share my frustration, but i also cant wait for my SHO to run even better afterwards!

Oh yea, I replaced both mounts but i still feel some movement, could that be the sub frame bushings?

slight play in the engine while taking off. It just still feels like the motor mounts are slightly worn, but they are brand new. As far as i know though, the bushings are 175k old

A quick way to check your sub frame bushings is to start the motor with the hood open and turn the steering wheel a few turns to the left and then back to the right while the car is sitting stationary. If the bushings are toast the motor will move from side to side in the engine compartment.

By your discription you may want to check the CV joints, my CV joints went bad at 130k. My symptoms sound much like yours, the engine appeared to be jumping around even though I had recently installed new motor mounts. I swapped out both axles with $49 remans, that took care of the problem.

BTW Contact me if you would like your valves adjusted. I have a upper 60k job to do near Seattle and I can get to you at the same time.

Hope that helps,

The plug wells seals aren't fantastic, using RTV as shown in my guide will help them work better for your next 60k miles. :thumb:

Sorry to say Josh, but I don't recommend the use of RTV on the plug well seals.

The engine moved a little bit with the steering tests, right when i got as far as i could go in both directions.

Also, when jacking the engine up on the oil pan to get the rear mount out, first the engine and subframe went up together, then the engine went up. Should it have that much play?
