So I recieved my first ever speeding ticket tonight in Orange county just east of Orlando,62 in a 45 $254.00 fine.
It was in a short 1/4mile strech where the speed limit drops from 55 to 45 then back to 55.

The cop was a doofus,I have already retained the services of a traffic lawyer.

Flipping nuts what they have raised ticket prices to in just the last couple years. That same ticket 5 years ago would have ran about 1/2 today's price.

I just got a ticket a couple days ago as well. First speeding ticket in I don't know how long and it was in my slowest car (92 Taurus LX). It was a small town in the middle of nowhere and I was clocked doing 70mph in a 60mph.

I set the cruise at 65mph, but you know the accuracy of these cars.... Most places I drive wouldn't even bother looking at you for 10mph over. The cost of the ticket is like $30, but the court cost is nearly $50. No mistake, I wasn't pulled over because my speeding was unsafe, I'm positive the cop in his pig car was far more unsafe to turn around and catch up.

To top it off, he found out I was military (out of state license) and after giving me a ticket, thought I cared to hear about his story in the military. After what he told me, all I could think of saying is, "pu$$y".

Sucks about the ticket. What are you planning to do? The cop that pulled me over said I could attend an 8 hour class to keep it off my record. I told him my 8 hours was worth more than that and I could probably teach the class. :)

This state is getting ridiculous, fines like these are just hidden tax increases.
No matter how you drive they will get you sooner or later.

I have heard good results from some local people who have used the "ticket clinic",so Im going to try them.
They are just basic repesentation,They called and spoke with me this morning and let me know with my good driving record I can expect to have no points and have the fine droped significantly or maybe have the ticket droped completely depending on circumstances but I may have to pay some court costs.
Either way,I'll feel better giving my money to an attorney as opposed to the state.
Plus that cop works graveyard shift,If he decides to show up at court I'll get the satisfaction he will have to drag his ass out of bed first thing in the morning :)

Well at least you are in a county where you can pretty much guarantee no points a 120$ lawyer fee later.

Some of the more rural counties dont have ticket team lawyers. If you were grabbed in Collier you'd have points, school, AND pay the 265.

Its doubled just in the short few years Ive been here. Have you noticed your increase in insurance, and registration fees?

Speeding tickets here in Florida to suck ass. Heres the low down, Florida does not have a state tax. So they can raise ticket prices to fund the state. Some can see this as BS, others may not. I so happen to not.

Heres my opinion, in states that do have state taxes, of course ticket prices aren't nearly as ridiculous. But no matter whether you speed or drive like my 86 yo Grandma in her 92 Grand Marquis, they take money from you every week. Kinda sorta like ticket insurance. But not quite since if you get a ticket, you still pay something, just not as much.

In our state, they don't take this state tax from our checks "ticket insurance" So when we do stupid shit on the roads, speeding or whatnot and get busted, we pay big time! Don't speed, and you won't get a ticket, that simple. If you want to speed, take it to safe locations. West on southern in the sugar cane fields is no longer safe, speed traps. Beeline highway if hella not safe anymore, maybe past Indiantown heading toward Okeechobee it is.

Glad that's an opinion.

In NYS, a 20MPH over ticket (ie, 75 in a 55) will cost you $175 in fines, and a $100 per year surcharge for the next 3 years (or payable at once if you so choose). Or, if you accrue 6 points on your license in less than 18 months, you're also subjected to the same surcharge.

(FYI, the speed limit isn't 65 until you're well north of NYC, which is just silly.)

So, $475 for doing 75 in a 55.

Or, if you get that ******* cop who feels the need to hit you with as many violations per stop as he can, and that total is more than 6 points?

Bam, surcharge.

Still think you have it bad?

Drivers License renewal, vehicle tag renewal, vehicle registration, vehicle title transfer. All have increased a ton because the state figured they hadn't raised any of those in 10+ years that they were going to make it all up on one large increase.
They also got rid of the sub 3000 weight discount on tag renewal. My motorcycle costs what a 3600lb car does now. $58 now as opposed to $32 or something last year.

Tickets suck and going to court does not always work as I have found out. Last time I fought I had to pay the full ticket, court fees, attend a safe driving class and pay for that as well. The judge told me how nice she was being by not putting any points on my license after all that :nut:
Let us know how the Ticket Clinic works for you.

My last moving violation was April 05,I did have an illegal window tint Sept. 09 though.
I've decided its time to invest in a good radar/laser detector.
While not the newest thing on the block anymore seems Passport 8500's are selling at a decent price now days.

I've heard that Ticket Clinic is crap.

Last couple tickets I got, I just opted to take the traffic school online, payed a reduced fine, and got no points. Unless they are going to get you off with no ticket/fine, forget 'em.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the practice of flashing your lights to cars approaching a speed trap that you have just cleared. I actually got pulled over for doing that in Rockledge a few years ago, and when the cop asked "Were you trying to warn oncoming cars of a speed trap?" I took the low road and lied. You could always say that it was a friend of yours whose car you recognized or that you thought you saw a car without its lights on (if at night). By the time you're pulled over and he/she is at your window, the cars you were warning will be long gone. I wouldn't normally advocate lying, especially to law enforcement, but with the state jacking up the rates like they have at a time that's already tough for most, it's fair play IMO.

If this were done by more folks, we'd all benefit. When I pass a speed trap after having just passed a few cars - non of which had flashed me - it kinda ****** me off. I just hope that the ones I flash on the back end will do the same for others.

I'm waiting for the spray-on stealth beads to hit the black market. =) Might not work for laser though.
