Well i got the new head from SHO AMO put on from sometime ago. And thing runs like its got a miss (thinking bad plug wire) and has a slight tick coming from the head. Doesn't sound like the chain. To clean of tick and not a slap. Any ideas?

Please and thank you.

Oh and the oil light comes on after about 30 seconds?
O rly?

That tick is your piston striking the head, because the rod bearing is probably nothing but a distant memory.

Or at least it will be soon enough.

Do the basics, check oil pressure with a gauge, etc, but from what you describe, things don't look so good inside your engine.

Checked the oil pressure was fine 12-15 at idle 60 at 3k rpm. The sensor is Dead. Ergh. scared me but not a issue.

Rod bearing are new. have At most 10k on the them. not that kind of a knock. Its a tick. very light tick. Just had the oil pan off before it was running and every thing looked WONDERFUL.

Thinking the timing is off and is just causing to issues. It back fires and has NO power under load. Plug wiring is right check with about 3 different sources including the forum and the Engine book. Im gonna pull the timing cover off the car tomorrow and look.

And i just put these heads on, and started it for the first time today. Was a perfect and healthy car before i swapped the heads.

My apologizes for the frantic post. Was sorta nervous and doing about 10 things at once.

The thing is running like timing is off or plug wires are wrong, but as i said i check the routing several different places including here and they are correct. So that leaves Timing correct? The belt is probably off a tooth and is throwing a wrench in the thing and making it a nightmare. Did a cylinder balance test and 4 and 6 come up a sever problem so we pulled the plug and 6 looks rich while 4 &5 seamed lean. Did a compression test and they all tested out at 150psi. Which i thought was avg for our car at 160,000 miles.

The motor before i swapped the heads ran fine no issues no odd noises. So im certain its not toast or anything, Had rod bearings put in it 2 years ago and the car has had a lot down time and see about 10k miles since. And i had the oil pan off as well (had a crack and leaked so i picked up a fresh one) and there was No metal shaving and all the bearings look good and healthy.

meh. i think its a faulty pressure sender. a mechanical gauge says it has pressure.
