Okay...as many of you know, I've been having all sorts of issues with my clutch as of late. Now the plot thickens.

The other night, I was having a bitch of a time getting in gear. Got a wild hair up my ass and crawled under the dash and started messing with the adjuster mechanism. Just pushing it with my finger got it to click twice (yet it wouldn't do shit by pulling on the pedal). So I grabbed a screwdriver and pushed on it with the handle to pull another three clicks out of it. Now, even though the clutch pedal sits a bit higher now and take-up is higher up, the car shifts smooth and is happy, although something's squealing down in the clutch area if I've got the pedal all the way down.

It was fine for a little while, but then two days ago, it got to the point to where it wouldn't go into gear again. So I crawled back under, and damned if the thing didn't give me 5 clicks again, and now she shifts happy again.

should I get a grocery list together of things I need to start replacing, or is this a simple fix?

And it sounds like your clutch quadrant was defective and not self-adjusting. Either replace it or remember to adjust it every few thousand miles using your "under the dash" method. Otherwise your next clutch will eat thru the pressure plate again.

[genuine sarcasm] I offered you free labor when it was an emergency 3 weeks ago![/genuine sarcasm]

Now, I think that it HAS become an emergency. I think your TOB has stopped spinning completely and the rate of "finger wear" has increased dramatically.

Better stop driving it and get it to me ASAP. The offer still stands, but you gotta commit to getting it here.

The only cost to you will be the gas to drive here and back + 5 gallons or so of Kerosene to heat my garage while I work.

Last weekend I was able to remove/reinstall my subframe, remove/reinforce/reinstall my rear mount, Replaced my rack, rebuilt my VAPS(wireing), and replaced my PS pump. Everything was out by 9:30 Friday night and back together by Sunday Morning.

Suffice it to say that I will be able to get your clutch done in about the same time frame...probably less. So get it here. If you work WITH me we could have it done by Saturday Morning.

actually, it also might be the adjuster spring for the clutch pedal as well......

it happened to let go on my car, if you check under the dash and heater core removal, the last few pics show the sprimg where it broke away from the pedal

When you pull the pedal up and adjust the quadrent, you have to let the pedal go WHILE your'e still holding the quadrent in place.

I could have sworn I told you to check this in your other thread Tim.... oh well.

If you feel like trying to replace the quadrent, I have the PN and here's a pic...

Don't know the actual price now-a-days, but IIRC when I picked mine up it was $30-ish

When I manually push up on the adjuster, I ain't pushin on anything else....my other hand's too busy trying to keep my balance while I'm wedged between the steering wheel and the seat upside down.

Doesn't really matter...clutch grenaded this morning in the middle of traffic in South Bend. Not a good place to remember how to drive a car without a working clutch, but like riding a bicycle, I was able to limp her home and park her. She ain't movin again until I'm taking it somewhere to replace said broken components.

And no worries...I'll get pics of the carnage as soon as I get it taken apart.

Max Transmission put it in when they swapped my engine from my 92 into my 95, waaaaaaay back when. The TOB's been makin noise for quite some time now, so I figured it was living on borrowed time anyway, and just recently it's gotten WAY worse, and today, I think it finally ate through my clutch fingers. It seems if I fiddle with the clutch adjuster a lil bit, it'll grab once or twice, and then the pedal goes back to the floor, lots of noise, vibrations and nastiness is had, and I'm stuck with no clutch action.

Oh well.....that's what I get for not maintaining my bitch. Let this be a lesson to you Newbs. Keep your shit maintained before you mod. If something's breaking, fix it before it gets too far and you're stuck without a car.

I have the same problem...Has anyone ever tried using the manual adjusters made for mustangs on this clutch pedal?

I recently installed a spec stage two clutch, ceramic TO...(less than 2K miles)
If I manually adjust the quadrant - it shifts great for a trip down the road and back.
Then it will self adjust and loose the extra positions gained by manually adjusting.
I think this self adjuster quadrant has had problems since it was new - it alway felt like second gear had a slight drag, and 3rd sometimes required double clutching.. I dont have that issue when it is adjusted properly.
