Ok.... i am kind of new here and have owned this 97 sho for about 3 1/2 years now it has been nothing but a POS but i love my sho lol it has had prob's sence the day i bought it and brought it home it has just about $10,000 in repairs and i have done all but 1 my self. everything from a full tranny rebuild 2 welding cam's after a failer (because i did know about cam failer) but now im stuck once again with this sho it has been down for about 3 years now and counting because this car is so costly.It has now spun a bearing and bent the **** out of 1 of the connecting rod's and now i have a crank that can be ground but were can i find a engine rebuild kit for this motor this car only has like 96*** on it and is nice as **** and i want it back on the road so i can have it as my winter car (so much fun in the winter) LOL any help would be great

Gaskets and bolts are very expensive. IIRC ~800 +

Sorry to hear about all your bad luck with the SHO, mine has been very reliable (knocks on wood)

i think it was from cam failure witch happend about 4000 miles b4 this happen oh dont get me wrong i like the sho i know i just happend to get one of thos cars that have a lil probs but owell


when i pulled the connection rod it had gotten bent and the bearing was tost almost nothing left from it and the crank might be able to be turn but idk and what is an iirs ill have 2 take some more pic's this car has been **** but it sure is so fun to drive:lol: :lol: :hail:

ill get some pics of the connecting rod next 2 an un bent connecting rod i wish i still had the bearing i took out the to peaces were pretty much welded togethere

also maybe if some of u nice people on here have a few engine parts i could get for free maybe ..... like another connecting rod witch only 1 is bent and only 1 bearing spun and sorry about post after post i wanted 2 add some more info

I have no engine parts for the genIII I'm sorry but there are alot of us in Michigan so just keep checking around. Somone might know what you need or beable to help. BTW welcome to the forum make sure you check out the Great lakes SHO Society thread and join up!

sure will i have owned this car for like 4 years its been down for about 3 -3 1/2 and it has cost lots of cash and is pretty mint thos pics are from the car sitting and never getting washed but yea if any willing 2 give a short block up for very cheap or free ;) ;) ;) that would be great :hail: :hail:

I have learned one thing while owning a SHO... It cannot, CANNOT be your only/daily car or you will find yourself up sh*ts creek if its your only means of transportation.

also when you have put 10 grand in a car thats not really worth it you be pretty much feed up with it to but yes i have learned that also can drive it every day and at that every day hard also when you buy a car that has 86***miles and it has cost you 10grand by the time the miles hit 97*** thats pretty ******

I know how you feel. Mine is down for the duration for a tranny. I really need two trannies rebuilt. :shappens:

But even at the cost of such maintenance the car is still cheaper to drive and cost effective to own as long as the body is good, then something you would have to replace it with to get the same value or pleasure ... IMHO.

damn man sorry for you way i see trans cost more then motors right now well when i had mine done it cost me 2600 and they said its has the strongest stuff they make for this trans and they r&r it also
