Some of the GLSS members spent the weekend tearing my 95 MTX apart to replace a heater core. R&R of the dash went well, and there's only a few minor loose ends to patch up. Only problem is, somewhere between this morning and this afternoon, the damn fuel pump stopped working. I heard it prime while the ignition switch was out to put the cover back on....but after that, nada. No pump at all. could it be possible that by leaving the key forward for that long could've burned out the fuel pump? I'm grasping at straws here. Someone, please help!!!!!

Check the fuse panel that is under the hood. There is a 10 or 15 amp (small) fuse that is labled "acc." or something like that. That fuse also powers the fuel pump. It might of blew due to all of the work that was done to your car...

we pulled all of those fuses ( didn't see the small one's come out, 2 of them right?) but all the numbered one's were fine. That would be the fuse panel on the driver's side up by the firewall right?? Anway I had just had the car running that morning so I have no idea.

LOL I hate that fuse.. that little 10 amp P.O.S. grrrr !!! My car was not running for almost 2 weeks for that little guy. I thought it was my pump, tore my tank off, replaced the pump, and nothing. Checked the 'impact switch' nothing, changed the relay module under the hood.. nothing... then traced down all the wires, and still nothing... Just so happend to check that fuse box under the hood and seen it, didnt think it was it, but sure enough... that was it... I felt like a bone head when I found it.. :) Still does it from time to time, but I have a fresh pack of fuses so I'm not stranded anymore. :) I had my friend who is a tow truck driver tow my car home @ 3:30 am once for that.. lol

Did you try to force the pump on at the DATA link connector? This will prove the relay and associated wiring?

how would I do that? by attempting to pull the codes, causing the fuel pump and other relays to cycle?

I pulled the 2 small fuses yesterday ( litttle red one's said 20 on them) that are near the firewall under the hood, and they were fine. Paul I wish I knew how to force the pump on myself and I don't know when tim's is coming back over to check that he's been really busy lately. could you walk me thru it and tell me where to look and what to do?

Go at it like you want to pull codes. But just plug into the fuel pump, instead of the self test port. Should here it kick on.

Tim's gonna have to do that because I have never pulled the codes before, thanks Mike

Yes, just stick a wire in the fuel pump slot on the connector, ground said wire then turn on the key. This will ground the fuel pump relay which has a key on 12V+ power supplied and will feed power to the fuel pump constantly. It proves out the electrical part of the fuel pump circuit up to the inertia switch in the trunk (not counting the PCM to fuel pump relay (ground) signal). You can also alternatively apply power to the wire pink/black wire at the inertia switch in the trunk. This bypasses all control of the pump to prove the rest of that circuit (except the fuel pump ground).

OK you guys are getting way to complicated for me, none of It I can do, if someone come's down this weekend I'll see if they can try that for me if now I'll just have to wait for Tim to have time, not that big of a deal but I'm just worried about the mile's on my 98.
