i'm pretty content with the fact that I have reached the power limit on my transmission so i'm not looking to make more power but I am looking to make that power earlier.

stock compression =9.8:1. I have no idea when detonation occures on my car because my tweecer has never registered it. we have run some pretty nasty timing so i'm thinking the version I had at the time didn't work with the D4U1

I was tossing the idea around for 10.5:1 pistons to try and cut spool time a bit and limit the car to 10psi. OR I have 2 sets of stock pistons laying around I could throw in and just put my money into my non taurus SHO project. I have run the car on 89octang at 12psi to see if the tweecer would sho detonation (timing being pulled) but it never did with when we played with it over the summer.

1. Keep stock compression and save money for other project
2. Go 10.5:1 or higher to decrease spool time
3. Just fix your car already and hit the dyno
4. I don't know anything about boost but I want to post anyway

I vote option #4. Oh wait. Um I mean option #1. Wait what was the question again?

J/K. Ok for real if you go with that compression you will be alright but detonation will show it's ugly face. That just means drop the boost acouple psi or use Meth injection and the turn the boost up. **** you could even put an intercooler sprayer in the mix to help out. I think your intercooler was a bit overkill for your old boost level anyways. Now you can make use of it. Higher compression will definately improve spool up time. You could also improve spool-up by sending your hot pipes to get ceramic coated and by throwing a turbo blanket over the turbine side of the turbo. Mix all of those and you'll be sure to test the limits of that tranny.

id save the money, if you make a ton of power low the shos is gunna spin anyway. Once your past 4k in 1st youll be spooled plenty id assume and probably full boost, I don't think id be worth your money IMO, but then again the only car iv driven with a power adder was my sho when I was drinking a NOS power drink:rofl:

I think the easiest idea to decrease spool time would be to go with a small shot of nitrous. Going with that kind of compression turbo'd, you'd have to run 93 octane with some Torco and I think even that may not be enough to combat detonation.

Or....

Advance the cam timing a degree or two. This will help the exhaust flow down low and spool the turbo up more quickly. Your shift points will come down a bit as the power tops out a tad early, but it will accelerate faster.

I don't know how to degree cams, i've never seen a writeup and don't even know what tools I need to buy. If you can spare 20min to type it out I will do it. honestly I need power to top out a bit earlier because the transmission doesn't seem to like the high revs so much.

Yeah Doug you should do a how to for the average joe to do cam timing on the SHO's. I'd love to know how for when I decide to put my stage 1's in. I might also do it for my 93' during the Turbo install.

saw the project car today ... ooooh yea !

this is gonna be fun .... and it was nice to see a sho motor, in person, sitting fully inside a RWD cars engine bay

we discussed exhaust routing, accessory relocation, motor mounts .....

and if i can dig my engine out, i should be able to CAD out an adapter plate for alex too .... because its already 1/2 done !

Soo with this adapter you would bolt it to the engine block with counter sunk bolts and it would also have counter sunk studs in the adapter for the new transmission to bolt to? What a great idea! Hopefully this is to bolt a T56 6spd to the SHO engine. If soo count me in for one!

might not even have to be countersunk, depending on where the bolt heads all land

and after i make one, any bellhousing that will bolt to a small block chevy will bolt to a sho motor :)
