alright......wtf is going on. I must have a ninja bubble because thing isn't budging. i tried warming the car up with the radiator cap off and squeezing the hose occasionally and still nothing. i will try elevating the car so the nose is in the air tomorrow. i refuse to accept the thermo is bad. anything else i should try??? is there a specific way i should fill the radiator??

Don't rule anything out, the thermostat may be bad right out of the box. Alot of people put it in a *** of near boiling water to see if it opens before they install it.
Have a look at your old thermostat, does it have the little by pass valve on it? It is mostly for letting the air by while you fill the system. These SHO's dont have the seperate hose that bypasses the thermostat housing, which allows the antifreeze to flood the engine, mainly by letting the air out so the anitfreeze can get in.

Thermostat in backwards? Try installing Duralast 15878 thermostat, Felpro 35278 seal from Autozone.

if everything checks out with your thermostat you mite wont to think about your water pump. i've seen the vains roght right off the propelers. if that happens you wont have any flow and you'll run hot and over heat occationaly.

SHOtimer ...all that work just because you want to use an aftermarket thermostat.

Doug

i know shame on me going for the cheapo part. what i should have done was drilled a small hole in the thermostat to act as a air bleeder hole. somebody said that in an earlier post and it made perfect sence.

...just pointing out the the cheaper way isn't necessarily the better way.

I've installed several Motorcraft thermostat's with never ever any issues. You went through all that hassle for what $10 - if that?

I bought a Ford thermostat 2 weeks ago, it was $16.00. How much was the one you bought?

These cars are just particular.

The cooling system on the SHOs is no different than any other. As long as it has absolutely no leakage, especially when cooling down then there is no problem. Most cooling woes on the SHOs are maintenance issues.
