When to my local autoparts store (Pep Boys) and picked up a thermostat. The part number for the Stant thermostat they sold me is different from what Stant's website suggests for an 89 SHO (P-boys part#29979, Stant says #45979 or #13979). On shotimes, one of the FAQ has a completely different number for the Stant T-stat (#65869).

So I'm just wondering if the one I bought is right or not. Also are all of these different thermostat part numbers correct for a SHO?

Thanks!

The thermostat should have a disk that blocks off the coolant bypass, and also a weep hole to let air out from behind the thermostat.

It's possible that the part #"s have changed as SHOTimes hasn't been updated in quite a while from what I understand. If it fits and works, it should be fine :)

Thanks for the info. I guess I could see the FAQ being out of date but I just thought it was odd that the Stant website listed a different part number then the Stant part I was sold. Also, this t-stat doesn't have the weep hole however I found a thread here that said drilling a small hole in the ****** would accomplish the same thing (http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=15061&highlight=29979).

Thanks again!
