The recall became official today! 9-9-2016
Took my 014 back to Ford dealer today to get the TSB 14 0186
I asked the dealer IF there were any open recalls on my 014.
The service tec "Dan" said yes but I probably did not know about it. I said the one on the PEM?
The service tec asked how I knew about this recall... It just came out TODAY!
Thanks to this SHO forum I did know!

Dan, at tri-ford said there are not enough parts to fix all the recalls.
SO only the Fords and Lincolns that are having problems would be fixed at this time.
When the replacement PEM's are at a quantity they will start sending recall letters.
But that is just what DAN says>>>>

So, my 2013 just died in the parking lot. Started up, drove 4 feet and it shut off. Will not restart. Called the Ford dealer and they have a tow truck on the way. I'm glad this didn't happen while I was driving down the road.

An update, of sorts. The Ford Tech called and said the car fired right up when it got to the shop. He wanted to know if it attempted to crank after it shut off in the parking lot. I said no, it wouldn't do anything. He sort of implied that not attempting to crank over would probably be something besides the fuel pump module. I'm going to be so ****** if they stick me with something on a car I bought 3 weeks ago. We'll see if "Warranty Forever" covers anything at all. Glad I kept my F-150.

Great..... saying my no start condition is not related to the recall. Said there were a bunch of codes saying components couldn't communicate with each other. Can't address the recall due to lack of parts. This is going to be an expensive day.

What did they WAS the issue? Did they clear the codes and see if any returned. Codes can accumulate over time for various reasons, and can be quite benign.

They still haven't figured out what is going on. The part to address the recall arrives tomorrow morning and I asked them to stop working on it until that was replaced to see if it was the cause.

I am curious what others who have had the fuel pump module fail experienced? Prior to this incident, the car would restart with a bunch of error codes popping up on the displays. This time, I got tons of error messages but it would not crank over at all. The service tech told me that they could tap on the fuse box under the hood and it would keep running, albeit roughly. Does this sound like it could be caused by the failing module in the recall? I'm beyond bummed out.... just went and got tags and paid taxes for a car in the shop :(

If you want to quick check your own just for peace of mind before you can get it in (if you have the ability), this is what's been released. This is in NO way an excuse not to bring your vehicle in as it's a Safety Recall, not just a service action and as always, subject to change.

I'm going to ask the dealer to buy it back. They probably won't, but I'm going to start there. We'll see what the FEP replacement does, but I can't have a car that leaves me stranded. I've purchased well over $1 million of Ford products over the last 35 years. They'll fix this or I'll move on to another brand.

Fyi, fold down your right rear seat back. Remove the two plastic push pins that you'll see holding the fabric trim in place and pull back the trim on the right side to gain access to the module. Took me less than two minutes. Completely non evasive.

Main power supply lead to the BJB was loose at main battery terminal. $240 later runs fine.

I like how it says, "inspect and replace (if needed). Well, how the heck do they know if it needs to be replaced or not? I wonder how many people will actually get new fuel pumps??

OmaHahn, looks like they have multiple suppliers for the part with a unique ID. They must be seeing failures associated with the supplier of the part NOT marked with 5 or 5F. Typically if they start seeing claims coming in for a failure, especially something related to safety, they'll start tracking /requesting failed parts from the repairing dealers. As a fleet, our Techs can create TechTips that are available for all our members to view to help cut down on diagnostic time or see trending issues. We also share this with the manufacturer at the time it's created. I've personally had a manufacturer contact me for information, and or, a part within minutes of creating a tip. It's an advantage for us over typical dealers that only have access to TSB's/SSM's that must be blessed on several levels from the manufacturer before it's put in print. My bet is that they've only had issues with parts not from that supplier.

Edit-corrected post to add NOT marked
