Well I'm out of the Drag Race...and maybe SHO's all together...

I don't know if any of you know this but last Friday I hit a curb and apparently bent the passanger side front strut and spindle. I got a strut and was working on getting the correct spindle off a 94 slo with abs but didn't have the right tools or enough time. When my steering wheel is straight, the drivers side is perfect up-down and front-back; at the same time the passanger side front and top of the tire would be out a ways. I couldn't stop driving my car since I just started a job and they wouldn't be so forgiving right away. Sooo now my front drivers side wheel has more negative camber than my rear wheel from limping to and from work in Tempe. Needless to say it isn't safe to drive it or smart, but it's my only transportation and I really need to keep this job. I don't have any time to fix it, or money for that matter. I told my dad this and he swore at my car saying this ******* thing has been nothing but trouble and I should have kept the corolla....anyways... He wants me to get a "reliable" car (read Japanese) while I'm in school.

Honestly, I couldn't agree more. I'll be taking out a loan for 5-6k for a Nissan, Toyota, or Honda. I really hope I can find a 4th gen (94-99) Maxima. I've known lots of people who keep them forever and never have problems with them.

I do plan on staying in the sho game as much as I can, I love this car. I am thinking I am going to fix up my car a little and sell it. Then after a while buy another sho already all modded (so I can save money) and start a turbo project. Naturally this will take time, but I really do want to keep the sho going.

Anyone know of any good used car lots/dealerships that I can trust? I would really consider your opinion on where to look for a quality used car around here if you guys can offer any help. I really need this car within 2 weeks at the most to be honest. Who knows, maybe I'll have a maxima for the sho meet. I deffintly plan to be there either way.

You know, a 4th gen Maxima with a manual would be pretty sweet. It's decent looking FWD sedan with a potent 3.0, similar to a gen 2 SHO:) If you get one you should come race it.

Tom:

Joshua still tells his friends

"Mr. Tom's buggy has a built in security system....you take off the steering wheel and put it inside the camper. Really hard to take something you can't steer"

Haha. I would watch her:) She's great company. God, I hope that does'nt happen tho. They say that if you buy a Gen 3, you will weld the cams and buy a transmission.....

Shinny Gen I Paint

my eyes are blinded by that shiny white gen 1 paint job.

That's why it is the Garage Queen. This thing sits more than anything else that I own. It's good to see people enjoying these cars and doing things with them. I just want this one to stay stock and unmolested.

Man I would love to go, but it all depends on whether I can get my SHO fixed in time. Last night when I was driving home from Desert Ridge the steering wheel starting shaking like mad, so I pulled over and started inspecting the tires. I grabbed the lug wrench out of the back and started popping off hub caps....When I got to the right front tire one of my lugnuts fell to the asphalt and the end of the stud it was screwed to went with it. :frown:

Right now it's parked in the front yard and I'm commuting with the Bronco. If and when the Tokicos arrive in the mail I want to do the whole thing in one go. Tom, it would mean the world to me if I could use you and your shop for this one. Is Dooleyville open to visitors on the 11th and 12th? It's been 24 hours without my baby and I miss her already!

I'll be available to help you this Sunday the 5th, but next weekend is booked up for me. And the 18 is the SHOdown. If you're just needing help on the lugnut stud, I could help you some weekday evening also.

That drift stuff can be fun to watch. The NASA events almost always have drift groups now and those guys are a lot of fun to hang out with. They're really a pretty good bunch of guys and have an interesting way of doing things for car prep.

The Nopi stuff is probably a bit more intense, though, I'd guess, but should be entertaining nonetheless.

Okay Tom, thanks. I don't have work on Wednesday or Thursday this week. Which of those works best for you? I'd be able to work as soon as 3 o' clock, and I should be picking up the new stud tomorrow. Do you think I should replace all five of them on that hub while I'm in there? I don't see a point, but my big bro suggested it.

Attendance from Flagstaff:

Lots of maybes and we'll sees from Flagstaff, so It could be any number of cars coming. The Route 66 car club is cruising from Flagstaff on a road trip to end at the pavillions. My buddy from Church who is in this club has a 71 cougar xr7...PUMPKIN ORANGE! and he is really geeked about the opportunity to come. Dude is 55 and wanted me to street race him behind the mall in my SHO. We bantered a bit then concluded that our wives would not take kindly to bailing us out.

Maserati guy is checking with the boss to see if he can, the other SHO in Flagstaff is out due to spring break with the kids.

It will be a caravan of at least me, so we shall see.

On a side note, Joshua got a lesson in F=ma. He recognizes that Tom has an SHO motor just like our car, so he didnt know who would win. I explained that TOW weighs 1400 lbs less and has the same motor (didnt get into the blower issue as he doesnt know what it is). He concluded that whoever is lighter with the same motor will win, at which point he suggested taking Rachel's car seat and coloring books out of the back seat. So, according to the 8 year old, I have a chance.
