Yesterday I went to go look at a 2020 Mustang GT Performance Pack since I am picking up new daily driver and was thinking of getting something with more head room. I have maxed out what the stock block on the 3.5TT SHO can handle safely so I wanted to look at a different play toy...

I went to the dealership where I know a few people there.. they couldn't believe I was willing to trade in the SHO since I mentioned it was one was the fastest SHO's in the country. This particular dealer works a lot with highly modified Fords.. so they brought out their used car manager (waste of time) and their lead Shelby tech to go over the car. The lead tech was very impressed with the quality of the work and parts that were added.. asked if he could take it for a drive. I said sure, threw him the keys, and said have fun! The used car manager hops in with him..

A bit later they show back up grinning ear to ear. The Shelby tech asks me if I had Ford Performance do the tuning and help build it. I said no and went over all the stuff that was done. The guy said the car drove fantastic and was extremely well behaved and that when people come in with cars as modified as mine they usually drive like crap. His only comment was the suspension was a bit hard but totally understands if I am pushing 500awhp and 500awtq why I would want a stiffer suspension.

His said he was not prepared for the kick the car had when he punched it.. the used car manager said it pushed him back into seat hard..

In any event, after receiving as much praise as I did, I decided not talk walk away from the SHO for now.. There is only one SHO like mine in the country with the mods and tuning I have...there are a million mustangs... so I will keep what I have for now..

But that MT6 in the 2020 Mustang is a notchy fun SOB... I was rev matching the down shifts and kept feeling like I was fighting the car to do.. then I realized the newer mustangs will rev match itself.. so yes.. yes I was fighting the car.. talk about taking all the fun out of a stick...

You have out a lot of time and money into that car, so it's understandable.

I don't regret trading mine, I just regret not putting it back to stock and selling all the parts lol.

At the end of the day, as long as you are smiling, you win.

I’m tempted even treat her to new wheels and rubber! Lol..

Just put a pair of Conti's on her....you will really love. I love mine so much, I threw a pair on my ST. My Lexus will get a pair too.

It’s getting conti’s..... debating on if I want to move off the stock wheels...

If I do, I need to figure out what the widest tire
I can go with HR springs. I’m not interested in staggering...

I was lucky because I had the same size tire on my stock rims and my wider Curvas. The wider rims plant the power better and I don't have a lot of sidewall yawl or body roll for that matter. Rims did make a bit of a difference.

did they make an offer?

$21K which is on par with private party in very good condition.

For a trade in, that’s a a good number. I think given the history and amount of money in this I could get a bit more actually private partying it. Just not sure if it’s worth the hassle though...

My SHO is almost in mint conditions minus a couple rock chips which could be hidden with touch up paint. The dealer was surprised it even had 27K...

I doubt you would have any regrets. Mustang is the best bang for your buck I've seen. If they made them slightly higher to avoid scraping,I would buy one today.

I've got 20x9.5 +40mm / 275/40/20. Perfect fit all the way round. Probably the max. About 10mm between the inside of the tire and front struts. And the handling/grip difference on a road course, braking launching....my God.

I think with a wheel change, you'll fall back in love with it. When I changed my wheels, they were about 4lbs lighter per wheel and I found that noticeable in all aspects. I had planned on another set that would have been much lighter, but I got a crazy good deal on mine.

So, get an Anthracite colored wheel and paint the calipers body color = hotness

22k is what I got for trade in on mine.
It wasn't even close to what you have in mods. I even had double your miles. i regret not keeping the k&n and the msd coils... Could've saved some cash. The dealership was overstocked and pushing covid-19 discounts, which may have helped me out.
