I posted this in my uber-long thread about digital clusters but I think that thread is too convoluted now for anyone to find new questions.

Is there a way to power on the digital cluster that is not connected to the car? I was wondering if it would be possible via a 12v DC source like most of the other things involved with cars.

That's what the battery charger would be for. I guess what I am wondering if I can just hook up the cluster to a 12v power source and which leads I would need to connect to.

Yes you can. On the smaller black connerctor you need to attach pins 2 and 8 to ground and pins 7, 9, and 13 positive.

I'm probably not going to get a chance to try it until next week, but I'll let you know if it works for me.
