My taurus developed this problem on startups, it runs very rough and sounds like it has a cam. Its on cold start ups and usually evens out when the engine warms up, not 100% tho still runs odd. I changed the spark plugs, coils, fuel filter all last year. Also when i unplug the MAF it runs and starts fine but i replaced the MAF and still the same problem. I have a video on youtube showing what the problem is.

When you ran the idle up to like 15, I thought I heard it missing on one cylinder , maybe that's just the video

How much mileage? Cams welded? RPMs look quite low after settling. Don't know if the Gen 3's have the same IAC problems as the Gen 1/2's.

BTW, the COPs on the firewall side are known to die due to the heat back there, but I'd think the problem would be under load also. Worth swapping out with the front bank if a visual check reveals nothing.

Unplug the idle air controller and see if it changes. It seems like it's not working properly.

Also some one pulled the airbag light out.

I changed all 8 COP's not even a full year ago, the engine runs smooth without missing when it evens out once ina while, when i unplug the iac it stalls and wont start at all.

I replaced the coils on mine as well with some off of Ebay due to the spark plug tubes leaking. For some odd reason, they just don't work well even though they were brand new. Odd thing is that the previous coils I purchased from the same seller worked fine up until the oil leaks. Don't know if there's voltage interference or what but the sets being sold now by this particular seller are defective. I ended up getting a refund and purchasing a set from Carparts.com, which is selling a complete set for $80.00 through Ebay, and have had no problems since.

Yep. Even the boots are different on the Carparts coils vs the alanisdeals.

Alanisdeals

I've heard of very few folks that weren't pleased with the alanisdeals ones. I've been on my set for 5+ years now with no issues. But thanks for the info - $80 for a set still isn't bad.

The original set I bought from them worked perfect. But this last set misfired on cold starts in the morning and would smooth themselves out as the engine warmed up. Still the engine ran horribly and fuel economy was really bad. They have a defect and I think it's more due to electrical interference than anything else.
