Temperature Guage location

Does anyone know where the temp gauge is located at that tells the dash the engine temp? I can't find it and my dash is reading the car as being cool not warming up. Also can this cause my a/c to stop working because the car doesn't know the temperature of the engine? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
