I got to thinking the other day, which is a scary thing if you know me.

I saw an old AWD Tempo. Went to the internet and started reading about them. Thought they were quite interesting, as the system was developed just for the Tempo/Topaz platform.

Digging, one thing I noticed is the AWD Tempo shares the same bell housing as the V6 SHO motor. Which leads me to two ideas. A SHO powered AWD Tempo. OR, more what I would want to do, is put a Tempo AWD system into a Taurus SHO.

As far as I know, I don't think it has been done. My Google-Fu is weak though and just because I have not heard of it does not mean it does not exist.

So, what do you all think? Bad idea? If so, why? It is not like I am going to do it, but I want to hear wat you guys think if the idea.

Let the fun begin.

This is what I recalled about that:
"The 4WD Tempo is offered only with Ford`s 2.3-liter, 4-cylinder engine teamed with automatic transmission."

In any event, the auto behind the Vulcan barely held up to the power of that engine, so a SHO motor would tear it up in no time.

I would tend to agree knowing Ford's inability to overdesign their transmissions, but it is doubtful the AWD transmission is AXOD so there is the chance it has the capacity. Although the 2.3l HSC made 125ft/lbs of torque...
