Ok heres some history, 99 SHO 136k on it original trans, previous owner drove way too long on transmission fluid, anyways when i bought it i did a quick flush to get rid of some of the burnt fluid and i changed the filter and cleaned pan. after driving a few hundred miles on that fluid i did another quick flush and filled it back up with some more merc v and a bottle of lucas. When i first got it the TC would shudder when trying to lock up in 3rd and 4th gear but after the fluid changes it still did it but not as rough. Now it feels more like its slipping when trying to lock up and its getting to the point where it cant lock up unless i let off the gas slightly but i can manage to get it to lock up pretty easy but its just annoying.. The trans shifts perfect and does not slip out of gear or anything it shifts very smooth so at this point i know its due for a new TC in the future but at the moment I was looking at using a sct tuner to possibly change some TC lock up settings. I was also wondering if tuning the TC to not lock up would cause any problems other than worse gas mileage and higher temp fluid. Any help is appreciated.

I drove for over a year with the TC not locking. It will not hurt anything except higher temps and use more gas.

A tune will not fix hardware problems.

is it possible to use the sct tuner to program the TC to not lock up?

Globally yes but it makes for a difficult time in 1st gear. The trans will act as if it is a manual. I suppose you could make the parameters to lockup so spread it never does. Why would you want to do that? If the TC is damaged then it will on it's own not lock up. It will also leave you stranded at the least opportune time.

What fluid are you using?

im using merc v fluid. I know what you mean about it acting as a manual in first gear because the abs module went bad shortly after i got the car and i drove it for a day like that until i got it fixed the next day and the trans acted very wierd but i am wondering if it was possible to program the TC to not lock up in 3rd and 4th because thats the only time it gives me problems.. i am familiar with the lock up shudder because my friends 96 used to do the same thing and a new TC fixed the problem completely but i can not afford to replace it at the moment i was just looking for more of a temporary thing to maybe make it less annoying to drive as i was planning to get a sct tuner soon anyways.
