First oil change coming up. I expect that Ford has a blend in it from the factory. Do you guys go to straight synthetic?

Yeah I moved up to Mobil 1 fully synthetic. After researching I read that mobil 1 had the best resistance to breakdown with turbos. Fully synthetic motorcraft would do well too. If you're stock then motorcraft would be more than fine. Either synthetic blend or fully synthetic. I go 5k miles per oil change on mobil 1 synthetic. I know some people say if you do the blend to do it every 3k or 4k.

If you used 5w30 Mobil 1, expect to be running comparative to a 20w oil in roughly 1k miles.

I go 10k with Royal Purple synthetic.

Same with standard Royal Purple.

I've been using Royal Purple in every vehicle I've owned for I don't know how many years.

My SHO is getting the same treatment.

What about Mobil 1 EP? Same issues?

I believe it is better, but I haven't specifically researched this oil. If you're considering using it, you can probably find your answers on BITOG.

If you're using regular RP, it shears... badly. Get one of these on your next RP oil change and make an educated decision next time. :)

Ok, neat...

I've been using RP for years with zero issues (on vehicles used much more harsh than my SHO) and never had a single problem.

Like I stated above, "it will be getting the same treatment" ... Oil wise

I know what you stated above; I was trying to urge you to educate yourself on said oil.

Just understand that you'll be running a thin 20w oil in about 500 miles. A couple of hot turbochargers will do a number on a resource conserving oil. Even regular oil will give you zero issues, but the amount of wear you see and longevity you get out of the OCI will be drastically different. If it's just a DD, you might as well find the cheapest oil that meets spec and have zero issues.

I wouldn't even consider it a DD to be honest. It might see 50 miles a week MAX this time of year.

I live in Northwestern Pennsylvania, run 5w-30 R/P High Performance Street blend. The temperature here is so up and down, it causes people to have ebolaidroids, but never gets much over 90.

I'm not really seeing the correlation here, but whatever...

As far as the DD comment, the point was the latter part of that sentence.
