Hey yall, i got a sync 3 head unit from my 2018 f150. It works, i just wanted to put in one of those tesla screens so my little one can watch bluey in long trips. Anyway its sitting in the closet and my taurus has an old sync 2. Do you think i could use this in a sync 2 to 3 conversation? (I will definitely have to buy the appropriate wiring of course)

The APIM would need to be configured (not really that hard, find a Taurus with Sync 3 with the same options and use it's as-built data) with Forscan or similar software. Also IIRC F-150 uses a flush mount screen and Taurus uses a recessed mount (or vice versa) so you'd need to get the correct screen (you can modify the mounts but it's very kludgey imho with how cheap sync screens are anymore). Then you'd need a GPS antenna and a USB hub. None of those are actually that difficult or expensive tbh. Carplay/Android Auto alone would make me upgrade but not everyone is as in to tech as I am in fairness.

Yeah the conversion i did in my f150 used my old apim from the sync 3 so that would be another purchase id have to make. Basically just buying a kit would save me time lol i pulled ny f150 radio and remembered. Its been a couple years
