Sync Phone Issues

Has anyone experienced problems downloading their cell phone directory with Sync? I get most entries downloaded but entries with K or H won't download. I have deleted the phone book several times and started over without success. I changed one of the K entries to start with an M and it downloaded. Strange... My phone is an Env3 with Verizon.

Yea same here it works sporatically with my iPhone since the new iOS came out. Most days it's ok but some days mine only gets B for some reason, go figure...

I have trouble with my iphone 4 as well. My problems are related to the bluetooth connection dropping in and out all of the time although I did have trouble with my phonebook entries once as well. The solution that I found on the Ford Sync forum mentioned that disconnecting the link between your phone and the sync system (basically just deleting your phone as a device on Sync)and then pulling the sync fuse sometimes solves this. Then go ahead and re-add your phone and also turn off the feature that automatically downloads your contacts from your phone in the Sync system. (found under Settings in the Sync phone menu)
This worked for me! Now if Apple would only fix my bluetooth problems.....

You may want to make sure you phone is up to date with the latest firmware/versions etc. Most of the cells I have had do not update automatically. My LG Rumor was running an old firmware version when I bought it in August I and had to download the latest version. Just an idea.

Apparently, iOS 4 (maybe 4.1) introduced compatibility issues, particularly re: Sync. It even made the recent Driver's Log review of the new Fiesta in AutoWeek. I think it's supposed to be addressed in the next release of iOS, but I can't remember where I read that...

For clarification I should have mentioned that when I first got my SHO I had an iPhone 3GS and everything worked great. Then the new ios4 (iPhone operating system) was released so I installed it on my 3GS. Everything still worked fine. I'm talking phone address book syncing, bluetooth connection and Bluetooth audio. It was a perfect match and I was impressed that sync got along so well with an apple product. Then I purchased an iPhone 4. That's when the troubles started. I finally solved all the issues with phonebook syncing however my phone would still always disconnect very infrequently which annoys me. I knew that this was a common problem with the iPhone 4 and sync and was hoping that the latest apple update 4.1 would fix it but it didn't. The Bluetooth issue still occurs though not as frequently as before the 4.1 update.
Now I'm waiting for the 4.2 update to come out..... Damn

I'm having the same problem. iphone 4 and ios4.1 As long as I'm listening to music via bluetooth, the phone stays connected but if I complete making or receiving a call the phone disconnects. Violently annoying...

The problem is the bluetooth and wi-fi connection. To solve this I turn off my wi-fi on the iphone before I get in my car. If you do this, the bluetooth connection will not disconnect all of the time.
The annoying thing is that I don't always remember to turn off the wifi when I get in my SHO. Hopefully the iphone 4.2 update in November will solve this. I just want to get in my car, have my phone automatically sync with the SHO and not worry about turning off the wi-fi before I start driving......

I have issues with my iPhone with the 4.1os and the sync.....my wife's iPhone has the same loss of connection issues with her Lexus....So hopefully Apple will resolve the bluetooth issues with the release of the 4.2os

My evo 4g will barely connect to sync. If it does the connection drops within minutes. It worked perfect on the mygig in my last car. Im not very happy that I cant make hands free calls in a $45,000 car.

Are you using an iphone 4? I've turned off the phonebook automatic download and still have intermittent issues..... I'm running IOS4.1

Did you get the evo to work with sync with 2.2 Froyo installed? I have heard it used to work with 2.1, but the newest update killed it.

I'm using the Droid X with 2.2 Froyo.....no issues....

Those phones are Motorola and mine is HTC so they probably use different bt profiles. I might give the cs a call later. I couldnt even get my phone to connect at all yesterday. It works with other bt devices perfect.

I may have to call CS too. Droid X with 2.2 paired fine and phone works but no media via BT or USB. Froyo 2.1 worked great streaming Pandora but no luck on my own so far.

New Sync Module on order

The dealer's service department spent 3 hours working on my phonebook issue without success. After calling Ford, they are ordering a new unit. The techs were amused with the problem (won't download any "h" or "k" entries). The tech could duplicate the problem with another phone (thankfully).

I still love the car... have almost 2K on it now.

Well, Apple released the iPhone iOS 4.2.1 update last week and finally my iPhone is working as it should. There are no more Bluetooth issues with Sync! This makes me happy and I just wanted to let all of the iPhone owners out there know that this update is out and that it worked for me! Anyone still having issues after the update? I've spent a lot of time with this issue and would be glad to chime in if there are any further issues

Same here 4.2.1 fixed all my issues. I'm walking and talking with a smile on my face!
