Symptoms of a broken axle??

Hey, Think I broke an axle tonite, not sure though, either that or my new diff has a problem. I doubt its the diff, cuz the car still will drive forward and reverse, just doesn't like being turned to the left. There is play in the axle and we will be pulling it tommorow. Any ideas on symptoms?

if you broke an axle, something will be able to move. Can you expand on not wanting to turn to the left? You have an IPT LSD right? If it failed, it could be functioning more like a spool, not wanting to be spun one side more than the other. But go with the easy stuff first. CV axles are plentiful, easily broken, and easily diagnosed. Good Luck!! Btw, how'd the nitrous work out for you?

Thats what minw was doing also. I did in fact break a axle but the diff also was out due to internals. Hope you the best

Well I swapped the axles with a pair of good ones and still the same problem... Time to drop the tranny and check out what happened, I am not even sure it was the diff yet, Im hoping it wasn't.

Did you ever get yours fixed toolboy?

Also how hard did you push the diff when it was all working properly? How many miles were on it?

sounds to me like the nitrous worked a little too damn well!!

Didn't even get to use the nitrous at all boys... that the disappointing part. First time I really tried out the car too since the parts went in.

There is absolutely no reason an LSD should break under n/a usage.I`d suggest that noone buy another LSD(non-Quaife)until this gets settled.One bad unit may be unfortunate,but now with 3 just on this board,it`s obvious this is a poorly built product.It`s bad enough all the hard work is wasted,and the new diff is garbage,but it takes out more of the tranny with it.Was there any R&D done on these,i`d have to guess no.While it`s unfortunate for IPT,eventually one of these bad experiences is going to bite them hard sometime soon.

Well Im still on the hopeful side... I mean when the product worked it worked good. It still drives and did not harm anything else in the tranny. I am not sure even if it is a design problem or what. Shawn has been good in the past and I hope we can work something out, Although this is the 3rd time now the tranny has come out in the past 1 1/2 weeks because of these problems. I am getting frustrated.
