Why? If this isnt a fully race ready car, I can see this causing more harm then good.

I think it's more of an anti-theft metod than a race purpose switch.
I plan to install one in my car soon too.

If thats the case you need to be careful its not something that can be triggered (even by accident) while the car is running. The best thing to use is the start **** that comes with most alarms

Im planning on making a **** switch, where is the fuel pump relay? Any other suggestions/instructions on making one?

There's already a **** switch for the fuel pump in the left-rear fender, it's tripped by impact e.g. collision (and it'd be quite a shame if a SHO - or any other Taurus - owner didn't know this, as it might mean a pothole, parking-lot bump, or other minor impact leaves you waiting for a tow truck.)

my friend got one off the internet as a kit for his civic. its fairly simple but find some wiring diagrams in the how to section and buy a universal on/off switch. they probably can be found on summit. or you can look up fuel pump **** switch kit on google or ebay. its not really that hard just gotta do some readin.

EDIT: if you can figure it out some people have wired their cigarette lighter to shutoff the starter. ive seen it on numerous wranglers.

Like John suggested, just pop the trunk when you get somewhere, and smack the fuel pump switch. The car will start, but only run for a few seconds.

When you get back to the car, push the button in the trunk and drive away.

Already installed and ready to use!

you can extend the wire from the ignition that goes to the starter and run it through the lighter so that when the lighter is pushed in the starter wont work. this way if you lose your lighter thingy you run no risk of not being able to start your car and since its the starter if someone accidently pushes it your car wont shut off like the fuel pump would. im sorry but i havent done it so im not exactly sure what to wire and where but if you have basic electrical skills and some wiring diagrams you could figure it out its not hard.

...and if you want to run another switch just put it in series with the impact switch.

One of the more elegant ways is to put a switch on the clutch interlock. The wires are easy to find since they mount directly to the clutch pedal. This will keep the car from being started, but not shut the car off if it is bumped while driving.

yeah what paracer said is the detail of what i was saying about putting it in line with your starer instead of the fuel pump.

btw i never thought about the clutch interlock switch that was a good idea.

I still suggest a starter **** type approch instead of a **** switch.
...which is all well and good, until someone bump-starts your car with 2nd gear or Reverse.

The ideal solution would be an IGN **** relay/ switch. This will disable the IGN power, which will disable the ECU, which in turn will disable the fuel pump, ignition system... basically, the car isn't going anywhere if it can't run. :thumb:
