How can I install a **** switch in my SHO?? I want the car to be unable to start, but still retain other accessory items, like radio and alarm. What is the easiest way to do this, and has anybody done this before?

I would **** the primary coil and the fuel pump feed with a single throw double pole (STDP) toggle switch.

I added a switch to the clutch interlock system. Simple to do and I hid the switch in the cockpit.

For those of you who don't use the cigarette lighter...You can use this as a switch to interrupt any desired circuit such as the starter signal or fuel pump, etcetera. When you want the car to start, push the lighter in, when you don't want it to be able to start, take the lighter with you. What thief is gonna look for the cigarette lighter while trying to boost your whip?

Well I already put in a **** swtich last night, using the starter interlock switch on the clutch. But, that is definitely an awesome idea. Push-button starter-ish awesome. I wish I would have seen this before I put my switch in. Oh well, hopefully I can find another way to use the cig. lighter 'switch'. Cool idea Slo-Sho, oh and thanks for the taillamp mod info, I love it!! thumb thumb

The cigarette lighter as a switch is clever, but what happens when you lose the lighter? You still have to run the wires from point A to the lighter.
The only thing you're eliminating is a store-bought switch....which never leaves the car.

you could also use the rear defrost switch.

the one in my '89 is a timed switch. click it and it remains on for 5 minutes or something. All you would have to do to start the car would be to click the rear defroster. thumb

I chose to hide my switch in the eash tray.

I also installed a brake light cut-out switch for those dark lonely highways when you blow past a CHP :D .... flip the switch, jump on the brakes, and turn! finger They never know that you even tapped the brakes :D wink

I've thought about doing that one. I've also considered a switch to turn off all the running lights except for the headlights for stealth mode. :p How'd you go about the brake light ****?

just like the clutch interlock.

Just find the connector for the brake light switch (just above the brake pedal), and install a switch inline.

yeah but i think thats the idea hes trying to get at. no one would realize you need the actual lighter to start the car. when you push it in to heat it up your completing a circuit. pushing it in would complete your ignition circuit. when you remove it and toss it in your pocket no one can start the car unless they have another lighter insert. and who the **** would think of that? awesome idea beer

My last SHO you had to click on the highbeams to start the car. not the best idea when the battery is low.. but hey.

I like some of the ideas here. though I dont think id go to the truck to disable the car. but agree it would be hardest to find.

My friend has a Grand National and one of his many **** switches is up under the body of the car by the rear tire, he lays on the ground all the time to hit it. What about the power antenna if you have a removable face radio, you'd need that to start it.

You'd only have to go to the trunk to ENABLE it by resetting the inertia switch. To diasable, give the side of the trunk a good whap with your hand! thumb

IMO, I like the total stealth mode idea. I also like the cig lighter idea. Also anything that involves tapping into some other switch is cool. You could also use a hall effect switch and use it on the shifter. YOu could make it so you can only start the car if the shifter was in first gear (of course with the clutch in) or whatever gear you put the magnet near .

Another interesting little twist...I've been thinking about a way to add "pushbutton" start on my car via the redundant OEM radio controls. I'd love to see the look on someone's face trying to figure out how to start it! :D
