swapping steering rack from gen 3 to gen 2

I've heard word of this before and I was just wondering exactly what's involved, about how long it takes and who has a gen 3 rack. From what I understand the gen 3 rack is suposed to be real nice and my steering is real crappy, it's super easy one minute and the next it can lack power assist while driving on the highway. I'm also gonna be dropping the subframe so what a time to do this. Are you able to keep the gen two lines and fittings? Thanks

Well I have actually seen this done and you need the GEN 3 subframe, I believe and it is considerably lighter too. I can say no more...........
