Suspension Noises

Hi all,

I had my front lower control arms + bushings replaced as well as my right rear control arm bushing about a month or so ago. About 2 weeks ago, I started hearing a popping sound coming from the front right (passenger side) wheel when I turn my steering wheel to the left or right. It does this intermittently and isn't really consistent which has me a bit confused.

I'm taking my car to my girlfriend's sister's house this weekend to do rotors and brakes so I figured as long as I have the car up on the jack + stands, I could take a look. I also have a super annoying creaking sound whenever I push up and down on my right rear wheel. My thought on that was a bad bushing or ball joint.

Steering feels fine but I get a weird noise/pulsating feeling when I apply the brakes which I am attributing to the pads + rotors needing to be replaced.

Any suggestions as to what I should look for in regards to these weird noises?

Buy a stethoscope from harbor freight, duplicate the noise and use the scope to determine where the noise is coming from.

As a quick visual make sure all fasteners look tight. Maybe put a wrench on all nutz.

Ok. It definitely sounds like it's right behind the wheel. Regardless, I will go to Harbor Freight sometime this week and get a stethoscope. Worst case scenario is I take it to my mechanic and have them do their magic on it lol.

For your popping sound you may want to do some research on the following TSB. The issue involves installing a shim/washer between the CV spline shaft and the wheel bearing.

I had that same noise on my 2013, it was the outer tie-rod end. See if you have any play in it, if so it's junk. Good luck!

Just thought I'd give a little update.
Turns out both of my strut mounts are binding which explains the popping noise whenever I turn the wheel to the left or right.
The creaking noise coming from the back right wheel is due to a bad right rear upper control arm inner bushing.
Shop estimates put strut mounts at $650 and the control arm bushing at $300 with wheel alignment.

They also gave me an estimate (at my request) to do the entire strut assembly for around $1050. I love the shit out of my car so I'm not too concerned about the price but ********! Will probably have them do the RDU and PTU while they have her up on the lift.

If you want to save a little bit, you can price out the parts over the counter and have the dealership install them. The shop will mark up parts usually.

The labor to replace the upper mounts I would agree that it would be worth doing struts too. Your just paying for the parts.

Ok, so definitely buy the parts and have the shop install them. I was just thinking about doing the entire front strut assembly. What websites do you recommend to get parts like this from? I've seen Rockauto here quite a bit.

I don't really have a preference. I see whats on rock auto and then play a few dealerships against themselves. I show up and ask a quote for the parts. Then go to another dealership and see if they can beet that price.

It seems one dealership always seems cheaper for me.
