surging at constant speed

ok i posted a thread about the vibration guess i should be more detailed. when speeding up or slowing down it does not do it only at a constant speed could be 30 40 60 70 does not matter as long as it is constant it does it with the cruise on as well. i have checked the a frame bolts good and tight have also checked out the cv axles they appear to be in good shape look fairly new. just spent a lot on welding and service etc and still not right any suggestions. thanks

is it a vibration or a surge? they are different. if it is a surging like the car accelerates then lets off under constant throttle or none at all (like while your not accelerating) there might be a bad idle control sensor, its near the air induction.

oh one more thing, if you consider my assumption about the idle control sensor dont touch it. My father's Durango is what had this issue and we removed to airbox and plastic engine cover to take a gander. b/c we removed the stuff the sensor was thereby broken by us and not covered. something about it being very delicate.

Sounds like the TCC locking and unlocking. Did you try it with the CC in floor or vent as suggested? This will eliminate the TCC as the problem.

it is definettly a surge and the ac does not work on this car so not sure if that would still work. all i know is it seems to get worse as you drive the car more. heats up etc.

It doesn't matter if the AC actually works as the PCM just sees the AC is in an on mode then signals the TCC to start locking and unlocking.

So does it do it when the CC is in floor or vent?

All the TSBs point to the MAF. Is the MAF the correct one for the car? I assume any vacuum leaks have been taken car of?

ok i drove it for a while yesterday on the highway and side roads and it is very strange cause sometimes it will do it and other times it wont. and it now does it underload or not very strange. as for the ac i tried it and it still does it regardless of the setting. i do not know about the maf how can i tell if it is the right one?

There is only two IIRC, a metal one and a plastic one. The metal one is what you need.

Did it do this before the engine service?

ok my car lingo is not the best what is the part you are talking about?? i have not really done to much to the car i took it to a ford performance place that i found on v8sho.com here in ga spent $2300 asked them to check it out said it would be fixed from service obviously not. not so happy with them got the car back withtrans bolts stripped and leaking they were supposed to tow it back and fix it tow truck never showed up. i guess if you want something done right you got to do it yourself.
