you would have to measure up one from a grand am/cavalier/sunfire (cheapest...or go aftermarket), and then find some way to stick it in your existing hole...overall too much work for a cool looking 'outty' sunroof.

I think they look really cool. Plus if the car has room for it to go inside the roof then of course it can go on the outside of the roof. What if you changed the tracks that the sunroof slides on. I was wanting to find out if anybody has ever done this be4 with a SHO. The sho looks cool the way it is, but it would look absolutly awsome if the sunroof came out instead of in the roof. It would make look a little more sporty instead of a normal luxery sedan taurus. I bet it can be done with some time and money.

um for the so called "sport" look you can pop it up. i beleive only low budget cars come with the sunroof that slide out on the roof. its the easy way out when designing one. honestly its too complicated to do with a stock unit and has never been done. it's just not worth it.

If it's what you like, that's cool and all. But personally I think it looks "cheap". That style is what all the sunfires, cavalier, and other low budget, run of the mill cars have. I looked into having a sunroof put into my mustang by a high-end auto detailer and painter near me and the pop-up ones are about $500 less than the inside ones.

Well I wouldn't exactly call the sho an expensive or high end car, the one i'm look'in at on carsoup is for 2500 dollars. You do have a point though, all the low budget cars have sunroofs like that. Never thought about that be4, but then again, pretty much all of the luxery cars have the sunroofs that go inside instead of out. Examples: Cadillac, marcedes, bmw, Taurus SHO:), explores, maxima, ect. I was also watching Conan O'brian tonight and they had a guest star Xibit. Of course Conan talked about his 92 green sho. Anybody watch it?

2500 is a rip off, we do spoiler roofs for less than 1k installed, and I wouldn't do it personally unless you were gonna get a grandview http://www.webasto.us/press/en/am_auto_sunroofs_3641.html (about $1500 but wont fit) or a sliding rag, also about 1500 installed http://www.webasto.us/press/en/am_auto_sunroofs_789.html , I am contemplating using two spoiler roofs in my SE to get a panoramic effect but my SE doenst have a factory roof. If you were going to change your roof the best option would be to relplace it with an Inalfa full slider, b/c then you get a roof with onetouch, and autoclose, as well as easy as **** to find parts for... just my .002

I think he meant the whole SHO was $2500.

I second the opinion that outtie sunroofs look cheap.. just pop the top for a more sporty look. Spend the money on lowering springs if you havent already: something that will make the car look and perform better.

/me thinks you're right about the $2500 now that I've reread over it ;)... and suspension is a much better way to spend a grand

***(correction)The whole car is worth about $2500***

I would never spend the money redoing the sunroof in a SHO unless it didn't have one already, and even then i probably wouldn't. I got's another question, the sho im looking at in a magazine comes with 18' rims w/rubber. He's throwing in the original set of slicers w/snow tires on them so that I can swap them out in the winter. Wouldn't the speed change with different size wheels on?

The size of the wheel doesn't directly effect speedo changes. The height of the tire does. Get the two tire sizes and read the 18th post in this thread ( http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=51397 ) to determine the height of the two different tires. You will probably find that the two are pretty close to the same.
