ever sence i got my 92 SHO about 8 months ago the front part of my sunroof trim is like hanging off. i think at one time the whole thing was falling off so the guy who had it before me put a screw in the back of the trim to hold up the back. there is no problem with that its just that there is no was to hold on the front of the trim. and is the most annoying thing ever. it bounces up and down when i go over bumps. does anyone no how to secure this? :sh:

and also the button for the sunroof fell through into the trim. so i have to stick a figure behind the trim and hold the button so i can get the sunroof open. now i had this fix for a lil bit with a hot glue gun. it worked really well until it got to be summer tim and when all the windows were closed in the hot summer heat the hot glue became hot again and just came off. so i was thinking about using super gule. would that work or do you think there is a better way to do this?

Most folks don't know that the two map light lenses pop out with a flat screwdriver blade. They man handle the trim and end up breaking off the metal mounting bracket at the front.
These two lenses cover the two phillips screws that hold the front of the trim piece in place.

I have fixed that trim piece in both the SHO's I have owned.

I used thick hobby type CA adhesive (Super Glue) and grip kicker to glue the bracket back on the trim piece. Sand both peices so the glue has something to bond to.

There really isn't much that cannot be fixed with the right kind of super glue :thumb:

You're in the wrong section.

If you do a search for moonroof under the Maintenance section, you'll find about 100 postings on moonroofs. Also, at shotimes FAQ, look for Moonroof Maladies. It was at Shotimes FAQ where I found a great article on replacing the upholstery, clearing the drainage plugs, etc.

On SHOForum, there's also a great link to a member site, with step-by-step instructions - and pictures - on replacing the stock moonroof switch with a NAPA basic electric window rocker switch, for less than $10.

they pop out from the center and there is a little lip on the "outside" part where you push it with you figer to turn it on/off.... pop the center out and pull out. easy.

Thanks for the tip, it seems easy enough but I never knew about it. Now my sun roof button is glued back in place. Thanks! :thumb:

I superglued the switch on my `94. Just be careful not to glue the moving parts of the switch. 2 part epoxy also works well.

yea i put super glue on the switch today. i put a small c-clap on the thing to keep it on. but i did put pads on the c-clap so i wouldn't heart the circit bord on the back. right now it is drying so after that i will try to pop out the light covers and put it up. thanks for all the help.

Funny. That's the first thing I did to the `95 I just got a couple weeks ago. The trim was hanging just like the `94 my wife had.
The switch in this one is still good tho.
I havn't even scraped the glue from the tape that the window sticker was held on with from the dealer, but I fixed the sunroof trim...

JB Weld is an awesome product to use to repair this. When mine came apart, I JB welded the front metal clip back in and the switch. I then opened up the holes in the front metal clip where it screws in so that I could tighten the screws and then just slide the clips in. It worked aawesome!
