Stuttering question

Can plugged cats cause the car to exhibit that annoying slight hesitation/stuttering throughout the band? I know it is the original exhaust. I just did the plugs & wires, the car will be getting new Taylors this weekend to check the wires, and the plugs are the Motorcraft replacements. Noticeable after the change up. All top end gaskets are new as well.

Can a vac leak on that hose that goes to the top of the intake by the throttle body cause this problem? What does that hose control, anyway? It's had a piece cut out of it, and is dry-rotted a bit, too.

I just did the exact same thing to my car, and I just replaced that Vac line also, and im fealing the hesitation too, But I have some sort of lifter tick or whatever also so that might be my problem, I guess my car was a quart low on oil some how, and I ran it up to redline on a launch, the car freaked, some how 2 of my vac-lines poped off, put em back on, and replaced the one near the intake /throttle body because it looked like complete **** (dry rotted), and now I have slight hesitation and a tick.

Fixed

Well, I climbed into the engine bay, and replaced my wires, because my Taylors showed up. I think I had a plug not seating, as well as a vaccuum leak from the hose on top of the intake in front of the throttle body. Got a length of vaccuum hose from AZ, and changed everything out, and it runs fine!
