The word "latter" referred to the second option you listed in the original post

On all V6 SHOs it's right at the output that feeds the upper rad hose, on the transmission end of the engine. There are two nuts that hold the tube from the rad hose, and the t-stat is right inside that joint. Be careful when replacing it, as the torque specs for the fasteners is very light...the case is aluminum and strips easily with the small fasteners.

SHOtimes and a few other places have write-ups on t-stat replacement.
