Has anyone modified the turn signal lever yet? I hate fords brilliant new idea to put the lane change 3 blinks on the turn signal. I feel like I am gonna break off the lever to turn the signals on normal. And about half the time I end up high beaming people in the process!!!

I think its wonderful. a single tap on the stalk gets 3 blinks while changing lanes, no need to hold the thing in place. a normal push clicks it into place for a turn.

All cars (ford and non-ford alike) in the last several years have this feature, so I guess you will just have to get used to it..... If there is too much effort to keep it on, maybe a call to your dealership is in order.

I'm not upset at the idea, it just sucks because it's too hard to push it down in my opinion.

I like the 1 tap 3 blinks. But I agree when you want to have blinker stay on especially for a right turn I sometimes flash my brights accidentally. I found that if you push towards the front of the car or instrument panel it helps.

The MFS stalk may just be worn out. Sometimes the replacement parts work better/smoother. Don't know if lubricating something internall will help.

I had this exact same problem with my turn signal stalk assembly where it was overly hard to engage compared to our '13 F-150. I asked the dealer to look at it while they were doing some recall work and they wound up replacing the assembly. Now it's perfect and functions like it should.

I would suggest that you take it in and if it's truly a problem it will get replaced.

+1 on r1crusher's thought - I have a friend with a '13 Taurus and he complained to the dealer about how hard his turn signal was to engage and they replaced the whole thing. It is effortless now to engage it with one finger. My '13 SHO has already been in for this previously and they said it was (and I quote) supposed to be that way. I am bringing it in this week to another dealer because I can't stand how hard it is to use anymore (plus my warranty is almost up) -- no premium car should have a turn signal like this!

If you find a that your dealer is telling you "it's supposed to be that way" ask them to go try any other '13 ford cars turn signals on their lot and another Taurus is even better. Those kind of replies from service people is infuriating to say the least. Thankfully I never had to tell my service guy anything other than it's hard to engage and it was fixed.

Is this an issue with older SHO's? My '14 works flawlessly! Never turned on high-beams accidentally or any issues. I love the 3-blink tap and when I want to make a turn the stalk never engages all the way down and stays down, I just push it all the way down and it comes back up to the same position but the signal stays on till the turn is complete.

I don't recall any TSBs related to this particular problem but it looks like there are other's with it obviously. Your describing normal behavior for the turn signals though, OmaHahn.

As far as I know it's just the newer ones, it always comes back to resting position. It just feels like there is a huge speed bump you have to push it over to get the signal to turn on...it's a good thing everything else on this car is badass or I'd be in the dealer slamming my fist on the counter. I know the general manager at the dealer I bought the car at so this shouldn't be a problem. My dad has a 14' f150, I was complaining to him about it. He said he loves it.... His must work correctly.. Lol

Next time you see your father and his truck is there also, try his turn signals and you'll know exactly how yours should feel. As I stated previously we have a '13 F150 and this is how I knew mine was not working correctly.

I believe this was an issue only with the 2013 Taurus vehicles - I know people with 2014s and the turn signals are fine. As for the dealer who told me it was supposed to be that way, he did say he tested it out on all of the 2013s on his lot and they all were hard to engage (this was right after I took delivery of the car 2 years ago). Another friend of mine with a 2013 Limited complained six months after he bought his and they replaced the entire assembly.

Happy to report my persistence paid off - dealer replaced my turn signal assembly this week and it is perfect now. Attached is a copy of the work order part covering this replacement.
