I have a 1995 mtx sho that was leaking oil and it was the oil pump gasket so i replaced it and I started the car and it ran fine with out the y pipe on it then after I put the y pipe on it started running bad it studders when you give it gas and it idles a little strange and the other day the tach was working but it was a little low then it stoped working and went all the way down the went back up and started working again the cel is on but it was on befor i did the work and it ran just fine it seems like the timing is off but I checked and its on so what could be doing this any help would be great thaks

Did you plug the o2 sensors back in?

Check the codes?

Check for oil in the spark plug wells?.

Is the cam sensor plugged in?

Do you have something against periods and commas?

The o2s are plugged in the cam sensor is plugged in and theres no oil in the spark plug wells Ill run the codes

Sounds like it needs either a cam sensor or a DIS.

I remembered that the timing belt was rubbing the wires of the crank shaft position sensor so if it rubbed through the wire enough could it cause it to stutter

I ran the codes and got a 51 wich is this ECT sensor indicates -40degF; circuit open. Suspect possible shorted ECT, harness. wich i never got before
I am also getting a 9 wich doesnt exist i counted 3 times and it blinks 5 space 1 big space 9 big space 5 space 1

would the ect cause these problems and my tach didnt work again and then itg jummped up and started working

I found water in one ot the spark plug wells but it was only one I dont know how water would get in there

cam sensor.. I have a 95 also, it was studdering really bad while in gear, push the clutch in, and it'd coast no problem. the tach went screwy, jumping around or not working at all. I replaced the cam sensor, no problems since.

Water in the spark plugs wells would definitely cause a problem. How did it get in there? I don't know, power washer maybe?

Remove the water, and let us know.

I removed the water and it runs ok for a little bit then surges its also hard to start

I jsust had it running and it ran fine then started surging then died and now it is backfiring when I try to start it
