Well last week Thursday, I had some trouble starting my SHO. Its a 95 MTX. It would turn over, but would never start. After about 10 minutes of trying to start the stupid thing I mashed the gas pedal to enage the choke, and it started right up. Ever since then there hasn't been a problem, until tonight. My car started fine this morning but as I was letting go of the key when it started it made this loud buzzing type noise. Very much like the sound of grinding a gear. I also kinda felt a vibration barely at my feet. I know it wasn't the sound of a starter grinding when you turn the key when the cars on. Like I said the car starts fine now, and it was almost 10* this afternoon. VERY COLD!!! Any of you guyshave any ideas what this might be? ANy help would be great. And Merry Christmas everyone.

There is no choke on a fuel injected car. The only real benefit of opening the throttle is to allow in more air if the engine is flooded. That can be accomplished with a fuel injected car if the engine is cranked without starting as happened to you.

I know that sound!!!! Mine makes the same sound when it is very cold outside. It only lasts for a few seconds, but it sounds terrible. Unfortunately, I have no idea what it is. It's been doing it for years though. When/if you find out what it is, be sure to post and let me know.

I certainly will let you all know. One thing I've noticed is that this buzzing sound happens whenever. If the car is cold or warm, it happens whenever. One of my friends, who is a mechanic, said it might be the throw out bearing. I haven't had it looked at yet.

I only get it first thing in the morning, and only when it is real cold out.....I always attributed it to cold temps/thick fluids.....I agree that it sounds clutch related, but my clutch is fine otherwise, so I don't sweat it too much.....like I said, it only makes the sound for 2 or 3 seconds

Same with mine, the only reason why I'm concerned is cuz my SHO only has 23000 minles on it. That and I have a warranty that will cover alot of things.

You have a SHO with 23k? Name your price! I'm dead serious... I want it! I'll give you my 94' ATX with 65K and some cash or I'll buy it out right... You are so lucky!

I have the same problem. Ij ust started to nitice it when is was below freezing. It scares you a little, but I have to agree that it is prolly just the cold fluids starting to flow.

I just bought this car to replace my poor 91. I couldn't pass it up when I saw it. Absolutely mint! The only thing missing is the moonroof. Happy new year everybody! Later

My 93 atx did the same thing, so last week when I started it it started to make the noise so I punched it up to 4,000rpm and it cleared. I followed this up with a quick 120mph blast down one of the many long flat roads in my town. No more noise. It sounded like the exaust was clogged.
