Hi all! I have a '97 SHO. It came with a car phone from the factory, which I removed because it's illegal to use a hand-held device in Ontario, and it's just getting in the way. No problems for weeks.

Last night, I started up my car on the way back from work. I head a loud beep over the speaker system, like a phone tone, and the radio display showed "CALL", and I couldn't turn the radio on. A few minutes down the freeway, I heard another loud tone, and the music returned.

Driving it today, the "CALL" message showed right at the start-up, along with the initial tone, and didn't go away the entire 2 hour trip, nor the way back. Randomly, driving later this evening, it went away again. On my way back home, It thought I was in a call again at start-up and wouldn't let me listen to the radio the whole way back.

What is going on, and how do I make it stop?

I did a search on it, but came up with nothing. Has this happened to anybody else before?

That makes me a sad panda.

I checked for any kind of extra fuse for a phone, which doesn't exist. It seems to do it in high-heat, high-humidity situations, so there's an exposed wire or two somewhere, I just don't even know where to begin looking.

Find the phone hardware in the trunk (black box on the drivers side under the liner) and unplug it to see if it fixes the issue. Then remove it entirely and throw it in the trash since it is dead weight.

I just did the same thing. I haven't had the problem in the past few days, so I don't know if it'll make a difference yet. That module is pretty heavy, though, so I'm glad it's gone. Anything else redundant that you know of that I can take out? =D
