Strange behavior from Sirus/XM radio

I powered my Uniden R8 from the 12v PowerPoint under the arm rest in the center console. All of a sudden, the radio would randomly change stations or switch to an aux input whenever the RD would alert. Is this a lack of shielding issue, or something else? The RD power cord also has an alert LED on it that will light whenever the detector gets a hit. I've never had a problem plugging in at the lower center of the dash.
