While swapping my winter/summer tires I heard two strange noises. The first noise was a pop similar to a kid blowing up and popping a bag. It happened as I was lowering the car by bleeding the floor jack. The valve on the jack is a little difficult so it lowered faster than I would have liked but it certainly didn't fall. It only happened on this first wheel and I lowered the other three slower.

The other noise I heard more than once. It was a sharp pop that occurred as the jack was taking max load. It sounded like a weld popping (even though I must confess I have never actually heard a weld fail). I am pretty sure I had the jack on the proper part of the bumper  -- (kidding).

Torqued em and went out and beat it a bit and everything seemed fine.

Any thoughts?

Yep, I have a couple of aluminum "racing" floor jacks that will creak and make noise when jacking up the vehicle, not so much when lowering. One jack is rated for 4000 lbs, the other is rated for 5000 lbs, so it shouldn't be that I'm nearing capacity of the mechanical structure of either jack.
