I can not figure out a way to stop the horn from beeping when the car is running and you exit with the key. This drives me nuts only thing have found is to leave the key in the car but I would rather not do that. I always have it in my pocket

I know it’s the worst! You can turn it off with forscan. Do a search on the forum and you will find some instructions.

My computer game is weak so I haven’t done it myself but there may still be hope for you.

What happens? It just keeps beeping until you get back into the car? Mine doesn't do that and I've not changed any settings.

Maybe yours was already disabled. If you leave the car is running and you get out (say because it’s no degrees and you’re just running in for a second) and the key is in your pocket you get the double beep when you close the door. The most ignorant annoying thing about these cars and I hate it!

Yes car! I know it’s still running, I left it that way.

It just beeps twice when you get out with the keys with the car still running. It is just annoying figure has to be a way to make it not beep. I started car today closed door it beeped twice then grabbed my snow brush out of the back and it beeped twice again

I let mine warm up in the garage but I don't close the door all the way. Never beeps this way.

Weird. I just went to the store. I left the car running with the key in my pocket and walked in. No beeps. I wonder if being tuned changes that? I haven't made any changes to the car otherwise.

I think next time I upgrade something that needs a new tune. I am gonna ask gearhead tuning if they can turn that off with the new tune

My 2010 doesn't do this but my mother's 2014 Explorer does so I suppose it was added sometime after 2010, maybe at the 2013 facelift for the Taurus?

This was likely added as a safety feature. I've heard of several cases where people accidently left their cars running in their garage and ended up killing themselves with CO poisoning.

Let natural selection work itself out. Don’t beep at me about it.

...with all due respect.

As was stated above, ForScan will allow you to disable this. If you are not interested in trying to do it yourself with ForScan, there are companies such as 4DTech that sell plug in methods to disable it. ($100)

He is right, use forscan, and if you haven't used it, go through the demo, they offer a spreadsheet on all modifications that can be done to our platform.
